: Tack welding lower ball joint to knuckle?

Anybody do this?

I think I heard someone was doing this with caster-adjusting ball joints to prevent them from turning.

I want to do this to avoid having a broken ujoint pound the ball joint out of the knuckle and having my wheel fall off while I'm trying to get out of a nasty spot so I can fix the ujoint.

Imagine why I'm suddenly interested in this...

I realize there may be heat issues with plastic inside, maybe use tiny TIG tacks?

I realize Rockwell 2.5s wouldn't have this problem:rolleyes:

Uhm, it's the knuckle or the C that let's go, not the BJ

Tin Bender and I have done it, some of the knuckles were kind of worn out.

I wish I'd taken a picture, but I was too busy fixing it.
You'll just have to take my word that it happened.

In my case the ujoint went first, perhaps that's a factor.

I guess if the BJ was tacked there'd be more chance of the C breaking, which is a bad thing. Hmmmm.

Anything can be broken, but I think the "C" would give up a pretty good fight.
