Does any one know if not using the backing plate for the FDB affects the birfield going out into the hub? For some reason when i bolt the spindle on the birfield is pushed up against the outer edge of the spindle and not only doesnt want to turn but makes it impossible to put hub on (broke one trying to push\hammer on in hopes of pulling birf in line) that didnt work so now i need a hub. so is not using the backing plate causing this or is it just an issue with teh fact that i havent totally tightened the steering arms down? thanks

The backing plate acts like a spacer. You can cut the backing plate up and go that route but you do need some sort of spacer there...
