Im not quite sure what year chevy started using the 208 (like 81 or 82) but I believe they used the 465 until 88

'81 - '87. '80s all had NP205, and in '88 they went to the NVG241. Might still find an odd '88 with a 208.

i was readin ORD's site about the 465 and 208, and they said that the nice thing about using a 465 with the 208 is the 32 spline output shaft on the tranny. they said its durable and easy to come by, but i wonder why they would say that if it was used so rarely. if anyone's got that pair let me know

Available might be a relative term and is subject to what's around in your area but they used the same adapter from '81 till they quit using the SM465, so the ones with a 241 will work too. They came in every duty level from K5-K30 in the 80's and early 90's. You can still get the adapter from the dealer too, if it comes to that.
