: Chevy 350 TPI Y-Pipe Choices?

I have a Tuned Port 350 in my Jeep with a custom frame. The exhaust manifolds are stock on the 89 motor. I picked up a Y-pipe from a 89 camaro but it bends the pipe way out past my frame rail, so i can't even get it close to bolting up.

I need a y-pipe that bolts to the factory manifolds, exits on the passenger side and goes straight back from the downpipe that connects to the passenger side manifold...if that makes sense.

What has people been using?

Thanks,
CJ

sounds like youre going to have to have something made up to fit. From my experience you should just have the exhaust done dual all the way back if possible (smog). something like 2 1/4 with no H-pipe or crossover will give you the best low end. connecting the two sides moves the power way up in the RPMs.

I ended up having to make a custom one on the 305 TPI install on my FJ40, nothing out there really worked with the frame, so I ended up having a custom one made. Might try a TBI truck or car setup...some are like you describe, but not sure which ones.

I agree. But the single 3" sound better.:)

Might want to consider using ramshorn exhaust manifolds. Butch Baker has an excellent crossover y pipe that works well. I'll try to find some pics.

Also, you'll generally get more torque with a single 3" exhaust due to back pressure.

I have a Toyota with a 350 and a y pipe setup. Mine was made by the local exhaust shop and they did a great job. My passenger side exhaust (2.5") crosses over between the engine and transmission and then goes into the Y. From there on the exhaust is 3".
