Theres a complete factory p/s set up on ebay. The heigh bid so for is $500 . I have just started to gather parts for my conversion. What do you guys think? The guy says it is a bolt on set up? If so it would save me a lot of time and trips to the junk yard. I run 35s on my 72 cruiser, mostly pavment pounding, Also most of the guys at junk yards here are a$$ anyway. Thanks :)

does your '72 cruiser have the rag joint on the steering shaft right by the steering box? If not it is the earlier style and will require a later column or some welding, and switching the pedestal for the box. If that is the case, just get the mini truck box and use the JTOutfitters or CCOT bracket... You can get the saginaw pump, a used minitruck box and the bracket and hoses and be under $500.

Saginaw is actually not much harder, you still have to mount the pump and alternator and all that regardless, the saginaw will withstand just about any tire size, and will be a much simpler system when you complete it. No more 37 tie rod ends between you hand and the front wheels. THAT SUCKS!!
I could have completed my conversion in a day (Saginaw) had I not broken a wisdom tooth, and had all my parts that day. And did I mention cheap?? I will have less that $150 into my steering conversion when all is said and done. $200 if you count the York compressor I "had" to get so that I could mount my alternator. ;)

the factory steering, although easy to install, is easy to steer aswell, but the more direct crossover style from saginaw etc is miles better on pavement, and in the rocks
