Just bought a 90 Ranger, 2.9, Ext cab. Want to be able to fit 31" tires. Anyone done this? Will they fit stock, or do I need lift. If I need a lift I thought about 2" coil spacers with blocks in rear. Can't afford a full lift kit. Any comments appreciated.

with fender trimming i fit 33's on me 83 and i was jumping it. thats the cheapest way or you can get the flaired fenders and run 31's

I wouldnt put coil spaces on the front end, it will throw your alignment way off and the front end will eat tires. Just trim the front fenders and they will fit, should be fine in the rear.

Nobody has ever done it and they'll never fit.

Take this to Newbie Discussion.

I put some 31x150's on my 89 excab, the fronts rubbed the inner fender when turning and the rears never rubbed even with a full load. I ran stock wheels too. I put on some leveling coils and explorer leaves and it does not rub at all anymore. I got about 2" of lift from the spring change and I spent about $250 with shocks and poly bushings.

The alignment shop should be able to get it close to spec with spacers. I ran f150 lower coil seats on my explorer for a couple years, after getting the alignment (replacing the adjusting nut also) it was fine and my tires are fine. BTW f150 lower seats are good for about 1 5/8" lift, and they cost me less than 20 bucks :)
