Need opinions on the best/most versitile grease gun. I have grease fittings everywhere on my rig and I need a gun that will last for years (only want to do this purchase once). Is manual or air operated better? What brand to you folks suggest. Thanks for the help. JP

Ive had a real cheap pneuamtic that I got from Northern tools for about 8 years. It is way easier to hold the handle with one hand and hold the end of the hose on the zerk with the other than pumping the handle on a manual. I have had a problem with the big internal seal becoming dislodged but solved that by using a regulator with it and cutting the pressure down to about 70psi. Mine was only like 19 bucks, and is a one shot per tug of the trigger. I understand that newer ones have continous flow as long as you hold the trigger and that is what I would look into in the future.

I would like to add to this. Does anyone else have trouble with the gun leaking all the damn time? I hate going to get the grease gun out and finding it has been leaking grease all over the place.

I have a pistol grip manual from NAPA. Can pump with one hand, and hold the hose with the other. It does leak a little out the end of the hose when just sitting.

Be careful on the "continuous feed" style pneumatic guns. Its really easy to over-grease stuff with those. Had a guy destroy a pinion bearing by lubing the slip yoke on his driveshaft until it wouldn't take any more....
And yes, they all leak all the damn time.

I like the air powered ones.
They seem to last about 5 years for me, (Harbor freight ones) until I toss them.
Cost was about 25$.
I am sure Snap-on could sell you a nice air powered one that would last 4 ever.
