Now I don't know jack about metals, welding, rod ends or sh*t. This just looked interesting and I thought I would stir the pot.

Looks like whomever did this just added some steel plate to his pitman arm. WHich is better than cutting and rewelding the arm, which I and other belive is pretty risky.
The way he added the steel plate looks a little ! That defintely looks hacked.
PS: I wouldn't drive it.:nuke:

That looks like ricks explorer and my guess is that the shop that did the rest of the work probably did that. hopefully they did all the proper stuff to weld right. I think I would trust it sence a reputal shop did it. This is all asuming that it is ricks explorer.

i don't get it. someone will buy heim joints, but are too cheap to by a new pitman arm? maybe they didn't make one he needed.

That's what I was thinking.....hell the plate only probably cost as much as the new pitman arm, not even counting the hiem joint.

I now have a better understanding of what double sheer is :) Looks ok to me. -- CJ
I dont see a problem with either of them. Now that track bar on the other hand, is subject to a tremendous load and should be gusseted better.
