Anyone know what years the Lincoln Continental came with the big bearing 9" with disc brakes on the rear??? I think they're about 63" wms/wms and seem to be scarce... :D Tks...

The nine inch I used to run came out of a 78 and it was about 63 inches WMS to WMS. It was the big bearing model but beware. these housings dont allow you to use anything other than the stock crappy ass brake setup. The only way out is an extremely expensive Willwood setup that you can get through currie (this is probably not the best place to get the best price). The stock brakes are discs but they have the integrated emergency brake that never and I mean never works and all they do is leak all day long due to the extra seal involved. It didnt have 5 on 4 1/2 pattern either, the one I ended up with had 5 on 5 pattern and was 28 spline but it was easy to have the rotors re-drilled at a machine shop for the new 31 spline axles I put in it. The housings on these things are real thin also. On mine the area where the coil spring pad was mounted on the axle from the factory had flattened out and that part of the housing appeared to be collapsing. I dont know if this flattening out was intentionally done by ford or if it just happened over time but there did not appear to be any signs of it being done by any sort of a machine. The other issue is that the stock third member is not the nodular style and does not allow for the use of 35 spline axle shafts. 31 spline will be the largest you can go. Hope all that helped.

Hey Glenn screw searching for that 28 spline 5 on 5.5" rear 9"

Just get a regular 31 spline big bearing one and we can do our own disk brake rear setup and you could go with the allpro e-brake off the t-case

Don't concern yourself with the disc stuff it is easy to convert you can buy weld on brackets for $7ea and new rotors for $35ea caddy calipers for ? ( I have a set I will sell ) and you can make any 9" disc for cheap. If you don't want to mess with caddy calipers for the ebrake then you can use chevy front calipers instead and they are a dime a dozen. How wide do you want?

lincoln Versaille is the narrow disc brake 9"
but ford motorsports sells an explorer disc kit for cheap to do any 9"
that is what Currie is using

the explorer disc brake kit does not work on the lincoln axles. The only thing available is the willwood kit so bring the vasaline.:rainbow:
