Ordering the tranny Friday...
I am leaning towards getting one, less slip means less friction and heat, right (!?)
if you get one...Why?
and if you vote don't get one...Why Not?
experiences and stories welcomed!
thanks in advance?

My Th400 has one, I'm not sure which one, but it really shifts hard when gettin on it hard. It will chirp the tires from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. That is with a welded rear and a 304. Other than that, no complaints.

It shifts faster and harder if u have a shift kit, so use your judgement if u want that or not, but don't get a highstall.

"Shift kits" are better suited for drag cars. I screwed up and put one in our 79 and I'm over it! I'll yank it out one day. I have a Shift improver set up in the 75 and it's just right. Firm shifts without the slam. Manual Valve body is hella nice. Lets you compression brake if you got enough gears in the pigs

I had an '81 Regal that I threw a 327 and TH350 into... Put a B&M shift kit in it. Gawd I loved breaking the tires loose hitting second :)
I blew up my tranny maybe 3 months after that. Not sure if it was shift kit related or not. And NO, I wasn't one those neutral drop idiots either (Like my little brother  )

I could go either way on 'em. I put a B&M Transpak in my 727 mainly to get the auto/man valvebody parts, and firm up the shift a little. Works great, and I like everything except that when manually shifting from 1-2 it bangs a little too hard for my taste.
Put one in my 4L60E. It now slips the 2-3 shift; and no there wasn't crap in it when I reassembled the valvebody. Called B&M, they blame it on wear in the clutch pack and suggested swapping in a Corvette servo for its larger apply area. I'm sure it didn't do that before I installed their POS kit. :mad3: It does have 114K mostly mountains.
