Anybody see the weird cast covers at the expo in Moab? Screaming head coming out of the diff, a ram, some other weird shit.
Funny thing was the ram was on a 14 bolt cover, and it was upside down!

Yea but did you notice he IS denting the thing? Also wonder weather or not there's some kind of an opening in that plate they have it bolted to to simulate a vent.

If there's no way to vent out the pressure of course you can beat on it all day without causing any serious dammage. Kinda like beating on a balloon with a hammer.

if it could actually take rock crawling punishment i think it would be great. I just don't think it'd last more than 2 trips under my rig

Hey, it's kinda like the clear engine compartment on a Ferrar 360....... my question is, don't most people notice when their diff is leaking enough to cause a serious amount of fluid loss........

To fully get it with that setup, you would have to install the optional interior neon lighting scheme to really set it off. :flipoff: :rainbow:

Their verbage on their website makes me wonder...

"Maintenance is simple- Wash with soap and water only. Chemicals such as brake fluid, gasoline, paint thinner, etc. will damage or destroy the look or integrity of your cover. "

Seems like petroleum based fluids will damage the integrity of the cover. Maybe you're not suppose to use a petroleum based gear lube....

one of the mags (JP i think) had an article about new products at SEMA or Moab Chrome gears were one of those products. their comment was "not long till some one comes out with clear dif covers". guess that sad day has come.

It actually held up better than I would have expected in the 4 Wheel & Off-Road comparison test:

What's a dif cover?
suzuki - no
Toyota - no
Hmmmm, must be those things on jeep axles.:flipoff2:

It would be handy to check the oil level or to see if water has contaminated your oil - especially at the mall parking lot.

i know the 1st time i saw clear gears i instantly thought they were hella gay... but they did do pretty well in the petersens torture test and I agree with the testers that if the cover had a ring behind it, it probably wouldnt have flexed as far and cracked. I'd run a CG cover, as others have said, if for nothing else to see how they'd hold up to some abuse. I wonder how efficient they are at dissipating heat compared to aluminum covers? Other than after nasty water crossings, Im not sure when I'd care if they were clear on the trail. To me, the thing being lightweight and good at dissipating heat would be the 2 benefits of the cover, not that its clear.

Why did you feel you need to post this same info on 2 very old posts?
If you sell them, then just tell up, reposting something from 4 months in 2 threads is lame

One of the rags(either JP or some variant of Petersons) did a review/toture test on diff covers a few months back. IIRC, the clear gears scored dead last.

Not sure if it says the name of the company, but it is POWER PLAY out of Ogden, Utah.(think some of them were part of INNOVATIVE)
These guys build some pretty bad ass MALL Cruisers. Its ok for someone to build something for show and think its cool. Fine with me. The picture posted with the solid suspension is their Suburban. Its kind of their showpiece for the buisness. Its been redone 3 or 4 times. It looks pretty good, can raise up about 2 feet with the airbags. Cool for show.
The first time I seen it was on their last buildup. It was sitting inside their shop having body work done. The suspension was done but the body needed paint and the axles needed to be cleaned up. The kid talking to us jumped it and started to raise it up. The damn think about tipped over on us.:eek::eek: It swayed about 2 or 3 feet just sitting there. It also has Hydraulic steering. Just old style, no road feel at all. They said "its find for the street, Dump trucks have them and go 65 on the freeway".
The red shortbed chev is also one of the projects built for show, has 10 bolts front and rear with an airbag suspension, but its bullet proof of course. The main road that is by there shop is a 4 lane road with a median and room for parking on the side. When I was in their showroom, I asked if they actually wheeled there trucks, He was kind of like "are you stupid" and said "of course". I asked "Like offroad" he said "hell yeah, see that red truck out there. We could jump that across the street no problem". As he was saying that I looked at the rear 10 bolt and it was bent. Thought that was kind of funny.
I also live in ogden. Seeing there stuff quite abit. Some on the street, some at car shows. There stuff LOOKS good. They do a good job on making them look really clean. But the attitude of Power Play is their shit dont stink, and mommy and daddys money can prove it.
