I don't think anyone can respond to this in the newbie section and I don't recall seeing any info in the Bibles. What are the lug nuts used on a Ford F350, 1986, HPD60 (smarties) and a 1980 14bolt FF from a chevy pickup. I have some conflicting information that it could be 9/16 or 1/2". I need getting some 8 lug WE Beadlock rims and want them all to be the same. I don't have acess to my axels for another week or I would go out and see for myself. I am also looking at 3.75BS which I think should be enough to "somewhat" protect the hubs.

Thanks,

zman

I'm 99% sure my 14bff lugs are 9/16". They match my 8 lug 44's lugs whichever they are. Fuggit, i'll go measure.

Edit: Lucky for you i'm missing a lugnut. .55", or 9/16", was the verdict.

Yeah, 9/16. Part number for the 14ff wheel stud is 610-283, not sure about the lug nut. My Dodge front 60 used 1/2" lugs but I was able to replace them with the 283's, so they are interchangeable if you run into a situation where they're different.

I just went through this last month, they are 9\16". The hard part was trying to find some 1-1\16" hex lug nuts to match my front 60. Napa wanted almost 4$ per lug nut. I ended up getting some from advance auto for around $1.20.

Just to clarify, the Ford D60 is 9/16" as well as the 14B.

LOL, same thing I was thinking F350 HPD30 :)?? Well, I have different nut sizes on my 14 bolt and D60 (79 F350 D60). I think that the 80's F350's are about the same as I have (same studs), if I am not mistaken.

HPD30, got it, and fixed it. So it looks like I probably have 1/2" studs in my "HPD60" and should be able to replace them with the GM lug bolts. I'm guessing I can just drill the holes out a little larger to fit the new lugs? If this is wrong please correct me.

Here's a couple of pics for anyone that cares. I do love my axel work bench.

That's the same change I had to make on my Dodge front 60. I used the Chevy wheel studs (Dorman 610-283) and they press right in the same holes, didn't have to redrill or anything.

The chevy axles use the 9/16 studs. The early fords use 1/2 studs, then sometime in the early 80's, ford started using the 9/16 studs also. Just drill your hubs, and use studs for around a 90 model front 60. I aint 100% on the years, but close.

Mine is a F350 79d60 1/2in, 80 is the first year to offer 9/16in studs. I run 1980 rotors and 9/16in studs

just for the benefit of anyone that gets this thread on a search...the lugs on my 14 bolt were some metric thread that were about the same size...this was on a ff 14 bolt out of a 91 pickup

I can also vouch that my 79' HP D60 and 14B are NOT the same. 1/2" and 9/16

Just an update here. My 86 F350 D60 and the 1980 14B FF are both the same lug bolt/nut. Was able to switch the lug nuts between the two. Not able to confirm if they are 9/16 fine thread but they are definately larger than 1/2", can't imagine them being metric so I'll stick with them being 9/16.

Thanks,
