i picked up a light duty 14 bolt for my 96 tahoe. i hear only the 454 ss 9.5's are a direct bolt in for the tahoe/burban. will the LD 3/4 ton axle bolt right in? thanks

The 454 rear will work, but you gonna run 5 lug front too?? Get one out of a heavy half, they are the same thing with 6 lug.

kinda hard to measure when the truck is at the shop:flipoff2: thats why i asked. thought 454ss were 6lug. well i have a light duty 3/4 ton axle sitten here. some say it will fit, some wont

It will fit, but you have to consider wheels. Spring spacing is the same on all those pickups, Burbs, and Tahoe/Yukon.

454SS is 5-lug. The lightduty 2500 2wd uses 6-lug. The track widths are the same. 5 & 6-lug rotors are interchangeable. Wheels have basically the same (neutral) offset.

Now the lightduty 2500 4wd (and 4wd 1500 w/rpo F44) is a different story - whole axle is wider, wheels have mucho backspacing.

HTH

EDIT: This assumes the 92-99 style trucks/suvs

2wd should be ~64" wide. 4wd should be ~68" wide.
