I know I know:D
But I searched and don't found anything about the axle swap of toyota axles into a suzuki SJ413. I found now some Hilux (Tacoma?) and some LJ78 axles.
Wich ones are the best, and are cloese to the suzuki samurai widht?
Please I need some input if this swap can be done, because on the SJ models the springs are about 1" closer to the middle of the car.
And I'd like to see some detailes pictures if possible:grinpimp:
Earl_of_Burl 10-13-2006, 10:30 AM You couldn't find anything regarding yota axles under a samurai?
You have got to be joking. :flipoff2:
zukipower 10-13-2006, 10:37 AM Yes I found Yoto Axles under A Samurai, but not under the earlier SJ Models of Suzuki
EHeye 10-13-2006, 10:41 AM He stated sj413, which is different than a Samurai.
I have a 413 on Toy diffs.
Used a set of 85 front and rear toy diffs. Rear leafs in the front and YJ's in the rear. Front we moved the spring perches out 1" with a shackle reversal and used a sandwhich plate to hold them in. Rear we left it where it is. Ford f250 shock towers in the front.
Here is a pic that you can sort of see the front set up, sorry its the only one I have.

zukipower 10-13-2006, 10:50 AM You moved the Spring Perches on the Axle 1" ore do you moved the complete spring 1" out wiht a Shakle reverse?
EHeye 10-13-2006, 11:30 AM complete spring. SJ413 have inboarded springs in the front, we outboarded them 1" (I believe, I dont know the exact measurment) and a shackle reversal. If I become adventurous tonight I may go snap some pics of it for ya.

I can't do that because I want to be streetlegal. (Here in Luxemburg thats really hard to build a good Offroad rig and to be Streetlegal:mad3:
zukipower 10-15-2006, 12:33 PM Hello,
I have a few questions. What are the best yota axles to swap?
On wich axles I can install in front and rear disc brakes?
dont't forget I want to be quite on the same widht as samurais..
crashnzuk 10-15-2006, 09:18 PM All of the toy axles are substantially wider than zuk stuff. There was a thread last week about a kit from Sky? that let you run stock positioned springs on a toy axle.
Travis..
phil_j 10-16-2006, 10:34 AM Any reason you couldn't set up the passenger side on the factory toy spring, inboard the driver side perch to match your psring width, and then cut down the housing and axle shaft to bring everything back to center?
That would get your width back (close) to stock suzuki width, work perfectly with your stock spring spacing, and should still be street legal, no?
This would of course cost more, and may for some reason not be feasible at all, what do I know.... but I thought I'd suggest it.

toy mini axles are only 3" wider than a stock sammy axle, iirc. (55" wms-wms vs 52 on the sammy) I don't know about a sj axle, I believe they are a couple inches narrower yet. And the relocator plate was meant for samurai's, and I don't think would work on an sj since the springs are inboard compared to a samurai.
On a sammy, each spring needs to be moved out 3/8" I believe, and would need 1_3/8" on an sj.

Interesting, searching withou a red star...
Earl_of_Burl 10-16-2006, 10:50 AM I know a few guys over at Zuwharrie.com have done this swap.
SPINALDEX 10-16-2006, 11:21 AM The question is, are the frame rails a different distance apart from eachother on anSJ413 than on the newer Samurais. If they are, then the kit from Sky won't work. So, you might have to just make your own perches or hangers, your choice.
Now, in terms of the axles, go to the top of the Suzuki forum and check the 'Toyota Axle Swap' thread. In terms of Axle information, which years to get, etc all that information will apply to what you want to do, EXCEPT for how to mount them since your setup might be different in terms of spacing.
EHeye 10-16-2006, 11:25 AM You have to outboard the springs or your spring will be sitting on top of your pumpkin, you will also run into steering issues. Its really not that big of a deal.
zukipower 10-16-2006, 01:53 PM Yes my Spring will sit on the to of the Pumpkin:mad3:
Well so I will look how I can outboard the Springs..ore I will find someone who can make me cosutm axles.:grinpimp:
I thought it would be great when I can keep the stock spring widht with wider axles so I recieve better articulation. Well I need to hink about that.. It's not easy here in Europe if you want to be Streetlegal:shaking:
EHeye 10-16-2006, 02:50 PM Mine is street legal, just passed Vehicle Inspection just a few weeks ago. Just gotta find an in with a VI person

Hi Eric,
Togive you a better idea of the dimensions: The right perch is already sitting somewhat close to the pumpkin of the Minitruck axles; see pic from an '84 axle. I would outboard the springs on the SJ rather than cutting into pumkin or welding the perch on way high.

Hi Eric,
I have seen a Sami with Minitruck Toys on a local competition. The perches on axle and frame are in the stock location. As you can see the left shackel is squeezed to the quite a bit.
And here are the data (metric):
- Axle: perch to perch ca. 735mm
- Frame: spring to spring ca. 720mm
