i just got my 36in tsl and 1.5in spacer mounted and put on when we went for are maiden voyage. at about 10 to 15 mph it started a small shake then got so violant that u had to come to a complete stop. we would stop then get going , have to stop and repeat this processs probally 10 times. i had them balanced with sand bags, that they said take about 5 to 10 min to bust and balance, we drove around for 20min. PLEASE HELP THIS JEEP WAS BUILT IN HELL. if u have any questions about my setup please ask.

My gues is the extra tire and the spacers are giving your ball joints hell....

first thing i would do is remove the tires and check your spacers.then while the tires are off have them dismounted and remove the sand bags/problem.have them balanced w/weights if you have to have them balanced.use the glue on flat weights on the inside of the wheel(the brake side).like the above post said all the extra weight is probably beating on the ball joints.

i just went through this last weekend. I bought some 36 SX's and the death wobble began. I replaced both ball joints and the trackbar axle end bushing and got an alignment and all is well. Have some one turn your steering wheel while you look under the front end and see if anything is moving. Make sure everything is torqued down to the right setting. Good Luck!

doubt its your tire i have goodyear 37/12.5/15 mtr on mrt beadlocks not balanced and ran tire pressure from 5-35 psi on the street up to about 65mph
no wobble on a cj5 d60 w/ leafs stock steering shocks.

thats interesting and good to hear, i just mounted 38 tsls on beadlocks, and did not balance, i look forward to how it handles on the road.

Sandbags? You mean plain old bags with sand in them? Am I missing something?

I used 14 oz. of Dynabeads in my 40" MTR's on Champion beadlocks and they have never been balanced at all, and run true and quiet w/ no wobble.

Everything including balljoints, bearings, TRE's, steering box, etc. is new.

Edited for spelling.

sand bags are just like bb's just with sand. its wierd because it had no wobbles at all with the 34's, why would my steering all go to the shits over bigger tires. i also have 20 pounds of air in my 36's, is that enough, to much?

mtr's run great on the road it's the swamper's that will give you trouble

ditch the spacers it might help spacer's on the front is just a bad idea

My guess would be the spacers... maybe they need hub rings?

start by removing the spacers, see what happens. if your balljoints ar ein so so shape, the spacers will accentuate the problem. I would have tried driving firsdt without any weight on the tires (beads, sand whatever), and add as needed. the spacers could also not be true (slightly angled), so that could through things off, or if you had considerable grime on the wheel mounting surface could have thrown things off a bit. Again, start by removing the spacvers, see what happens.

i think i mite have figured it out., the bags come unbroken and they said in about 5 miles they shou break open. but they didnt tell me to go slow, like under 5 mph. they said that over 5 mph the bags would stick to the inside of the tire and not bust. this puts 8oz of wieght one spot, hence it death wobble. so im going to out it up on stands and let it idle for a hour then take it for a drive.

I used to run dynabeads. Now you said your running sand. And you also said they were in bags. The dyna beads have a bag, however they have a piece of plastic you rip and the top part of the bag is like an envelope. Once you move, the bagmoves letting the beads out. I dont think your bag opened. Also, sand is not a good idea becuase condensation happens in a tire and eventually it'll get all clumpy and stuff. Break the bead and do it the right way. Throw in 14 ounches of real dyna beads or dense bb's.

its not your balance, and its not your spacers. Somethings worn out, check everything, ball joints, toe-in, tie rod ends, control arm bushings (or leaf spring bushings). There's slop somewhere in your front end, the new tires are just bigger levers against your worn out shit.

By the way, this is newb.

Yeah I had a similar problem as above. I rotated my tires drove down the road hit a bump and all hell broke loose up front so I had my girlfriend turn the wheel back and forth. Sure enough it was the trackbar axle end bushing which was a ten minute fix. Also might want to replace that torx(sp??) bolt that is holding it on as those torx bolts strip so easy.
