my '99 dodge 2500 had some weld racing wheels on it when i bought it. i never really cared for the looks of them and they are a bit wider than i liked. my friend has an '02 dodge 2500 with the factory aluminum wheels. he just changed to some different wheels so i was going to use his old factory wheels and get new tires. i went to install the wheels on my rig today and found out that there is a big difference in back spacing. his wheels wont even fit over my rear drums. the front wheels touch the tie rod ends.

are the axles different widths to make up for this? i am thinking about taking his wheels to a dodge wrecker and seeing if they will make a deal with a trade for some with the correct off set. does any one know what year they changed off sets? also, on the right front wheel there is a 3.5mm spacer. it is only on the right side. the spacer is marked rh only and this side out. any clue what this is for?

one more question, what about the newer dodges? i can probably get some new factory '06 17" wheels and tire take offs for relatively cheep. did these have a deep off set also like the '02?

IIRC, the knuckles changed in '00 to improve steering and thus the wheel offset changed. I found out the hardway with a set of Rickson 19.5's that came off a '99 and wouldn't fit my '00. Fortunately for my dad the Rickson's fit his '96 perfectly.....
