: FYI: If you need Craftsman sockets to replace missing singles...

I needed a few single sockets to replace missing ones from one of my sets - and it just so happened that the local Sears had a big box full of their old model sockets on sale to make room for all the new laser etched ones.

They were priced from $.99 for the smaller ones to under $4 for the larger deep wells... prices seemed to be 40-60% less than retail prices for the new laser etched ones.

Just a FYI if you've been waiting to fill in those missing gaps - check the clearance area of your local Sears :)

The Sears @ the Mall on Sunrise here in Sacramento area had a 'sale' rack just like that .99 to $4 or so... FYI

The one at Arden Fair has had them for almost a month. They start at 87 cents. Since I have seen the rack up they have restocked it. Who knows where they get the stuff.

Sadly none of the sizes they had helped me. They had alot of the 'Champion' brand AKA C-R-A-P.

I did get the sockets, returned a socket organizer which helped pay. BUt thanks for telling me anyway!

HaHa, I stumbled across the sale earlier this week and didn't even realize it was a sale. I just figured the old style were a lot cheaper.:D I had to replace an 18mm that I welded to a bolt with a rounded head. $1.75 not too bad.

I found out the hard way they were switching over... I went to fill in the gaps cuz I had a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket. All I found were laser etched. When they told me that they weren't making the others anymore, they directed me to the sale rack. It had already been picked over (at least of what I was looking for). Dammit!

I have two Sears near me. One is 5 miles, the other 10. Post up DRM - I'll take a look.

Check EBay, DRM?

Post up what sizes you need. I should be nearby a Sears sometime this week, and it's a short trip here-to-there for the USPS. I plan on picking some up for home-fabbed tools - I need a new 32mm socket since my old one has been cut down to about 1" high.

It works great on Ecotec oil fliter cartridges... although since I work at a Volvo dealership, and only see ecotecs when they're traded in, that just means I'll never have to change oil in another one. In which case, it's now my favorite socket. :D
