A briggs and stratton will get it done with the right gearing. Where the hell you going to be towing(terrain) in the first place?

I had one and it actually towed pretty damn well. I used to haul my 2500lb sami on an apx 1500lb trailer and it han no problems on the freeway hills. The only place it had trouble was on a very steep road with really tight switchbacks that killed your momentum. the second time I towed up that road I unpluged the front axle actuator and put it in 4 low. no more problem gutting up the hill

depending on the platform it will do it just fine.

if its a 3/4ton truck then you shuold have no problems! i had one for about a year and loved it.

5,000 lbs will be fine, but when you start getting closer to 7,000 lbs., they become turds.

Lovin' mine. It's no Cummins, but it's NOTHING like the gassers of old.

I have a 2500HD CC with the 6.0L and tow a 1-ton K5 and trailer combo that weighs close to 9,000 lbs. Handling and brakes are great, and it has plenty of power on flat ground and mild hills, no mountain passes around here but you can usually stay around at least 60-65 mph on long highway grades

Unless you are used to a bombed out diesel, I would say that pulling a 5,000 lb. setup would be a cake walk.
