I am gonna have to add a GM/Saginaw pump to the engine bay for the hydraulic steering and was wondering if anyone has ever installed this pump on the 1300 or any other suzuki engine? and if so, do you have any pics of the mount you fabbed up? I'm just looking for some ideas, thanks!

Thanks! Wilson or Dparker do you have any pictures that you could post of your saginam pump mounts? The one that the search turned up wasn't very clear.

That's super secret squirrel shit. Snowball is going to start selling them. I haven't made the one for super sami yet......... I was waiting on a one piece billet pulley from a source that will be revealed and bashed upon tomorrow for completely blowing me off and losing my order:flipoff: I'll probably get one from snowball (Bent and Twisted), since whatever I would make would copy his design, and it's not my $$ :D

hey all,

I'd like to debate the pros/cons of this topic. Ill be the first to say use what ya got and make it work. I just hate to see things turn into a "well so n so did this so this is the bomb" when the only reason they did it was they had the junk laying around..

1) GM/sag. pump (integrated resivaur) vs remote resivaur (import or late model stuff)

How can having the resivaur attached to the pump (and block) probably infront of the exhasut manifold (header?) offer better heat dispation than a remote hookup? Yes id says it might be more convientinet depending on your setup.

2) import vs gm flow rates? Ive ben following the hydo ram setup in the general forum and through trial and error method reports by ? say gm pump flows more volume and is better suited for a ram setup. Ok im on board with this....

3) Why not go with a late model GM (ish) setup that has BOTH .... I'm sticking with the heat problem. Might not be since anything like that will likly be overkill on a zuke/hybrid..

Mounting flanges/brackets

A integrated GM/sag. pump has a PIA mouting system to adapy to other setup, doable but still...

Most remote and aftermarket racing pumps have a flate "pad" area using 3 bolts to mount it. This might offer better attachment for some...

Just some random thoughts.....

Glad to see people building/tryng stuff !

just like he asked and you stated better flow for hydruilic steer. heat is not a issue that a bit of heat shild tape and plate cured plus addes a coller for the hell of it.
the braket took me all of 45 minutes to make but i do have plasma cutter .so for the averge person who doesnt like maken thier own junk
Yes it could be a PITA

alot of poeple have stated to me the hate thier remot mount revior beacuse the get in a step incline it runs out.
the sagnaw pump doesnt have that problem
and yes i had the (Junk) lying around so i used it.
guees what works great.

Heat wont be a problem(live in wa and I don't have fenders, not a prob anyways) and if it were you run a fatty cooler(which you should do anyways), making the braket is easy, yet time consuming if you don't have the expensive tools like some(dparker). I don't really understand your post, maybe because I am lazy and don't want to read over it again, but for fully hydraulic steering systems and most assist systems you will need to run a GM/Saginaw pump cause' the foreign pumps like toyotas and suzuki's dont make enough pressure to power the system also they don't have enough fluid volume. As far as pro's/con's are there simply are no con's to running a bigger pump with any system you have other than if your too lazy to get off your fat ass to hook the shit up, in fact as I stated above it is a required swap if you plan to run hydraulic assist or fully hydraulic steering. DParker thanks for the pics, but for some reason I can't open the photo section, oh well!

hate to burst the buble on the late modle (tc) pumps. yes, they have decent presure capabilitys, but volume is verry low. they were originaly set up for rack's, and the only aplication i can think of where tey were used to power a geer box was on tj's and late yj's. and every one knows they suck on those . stick to the older sagnaw pumps. they have te volume you need and presure can ezaly be jacked to about 3000 psi if you need that much!
