We may not have a LOT of racing guys but once they start contributing it will be great. A lot of stuff used for crawling has been used on race trucks previously or currently so the knowledge we gain/share from them is great.

Not to mention the bling on most racers :)

I have pitted for a race team a few time. And could I say its a fun time. Ill maybe going to racing early next year being a co drive. But Does 1 cars are fast. Wish I could get a ride in one. We where talking to a guy. He say they take race cars. And pay him 7000 Just to get it ready, and thats not counting parts and stuff. They are some big money cars there.

Kick ass new forum! Im looking forward to where this leads. I am becoming more involved in desert racing. I have helped do a little prep on a Class 8 for a local team. I also attend the local desert races here in NM. They are not on the scale of BITD,SNORE, etc but they sure are fun to go to.

Nice pic of the truck in the new 4WOR:grinpimp:

This is an awesome addition to the PBB. Hopefully it will bring in a lot of the smaller organizations from around the country. Brian, I read up every so often on NM Sandrails about the racing that is going on out there. Nice to see the sport is moving east.

Yep, that was me. Thanks. Two days before a race.. good thing I took those pics n' sent 'em in when I did.. there was some paint traded 2 days later. :D

Finally a place to talk about "That's desert racing stuff, this is a ROCK CRAWLING site" that might be more active than Race Dezert on the tech side. Sure, we ALL want to know what the Flyin' Hawaiin's new Trophy Truck will look like.. but I'd put good tech ahead of that any day.

Wonder if this place could be a throwback to the old prerunner e-mail list days? That would rock:D

Just as long as no discussions about heat treating and 4130 come up, it will all be good.............

Been building a hooptie 7 open truck for 3 years now. Time and Money, primarily time... were grossly mis-estimated when I was calculating the build. I'll get out there one of these days.
Edit: and will be riding co-dawg with Lance in this years B1K. :flipoff2:

ok im not a racer but know my fair share about desert racing and am involved with a few teams. i orignally found pirate over on DezertRangers and lurk between here and therangerstation for tech advice. i do believe that crawlers and racers can share a welth of information and design techniques, its just knowing what to use and how to use it. anyways lots of people in the racing community are happy about the new desert racing board on here.

I describe to people that the adreneline went from 103mph to 3 mph with rockcrawling .When you build desert is a lot of extra bracing and triangular reinforcing . My buddies pick on my sometimes tell me I went all desert on something with the overkill factor

probly one of the guys from prep by jake, some of the best in the business. prepin cars is hard as hell, but can be worth it if youre good. basically the whole thing is taken apart, everything inspected, then all put back together, to make sure nothing is overlooked that could end a race that you have a good chance of winning.

ya, its gonna be good to see more desert tech around here

its cool to see the new section on here. I am a former class 7 racer turned video producer. For those that don't know I put out the Dezert People vids and also made Gription a couple of years ago. I'd like to make Gription 2 someday but desert racing is about 99% of my life these days....

No. That was another set of brothers that were racing. Chad and ???? as I recall. I used to go out there and watch all the time at Prarie City. Me and my brother Mike raced LaRana in the mid 90's in class 4 until their demise then raced MDR for a few years in class 850.
