Yep, that's right, Pirate4x4.com is going racing! We recently accquired Jason La Fortune's old Jeepspeed hooptie. It won class 3 in the Baja 1000 in 2004, and has won a few Jeepspeed events. :cool2:

We will be using it to pre run the 1000 next month, and will be racing Mike Shaffer's SOR Jeepspeed in the 1000. Come awn!!!!

We are going to run it in the 2007 Jeepspeed series, and the 2007 Baja 1000. We don't have time to fully prep it for racing in this year's 1000, so we are going to use it to pre run the 1000 this year. We are using Mike Shaffer's Jeepspeed for this year's 1000. :smokin:

Awesome Lance. I just got back from a meeting with John Harrah. I am going to chase for his team. He bought Damon Jeffery's Class 1 car. It is identical to this car....http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/trader/atl.cgi?ct=2&md=second&id=5755
Fawking badass! Looks like he might be buying another to pre-run with the identical car. The team is green and it looks like I might get a chance at the "left" seat this upcoming year.
I'll see you down there!

I have been told be a certain person that I can not drive. Now why would this certain someone say such a thing? I can drive. I promise. LOL Camo called the other night and said you guys were going to buy this thing. Thats awsome. Looking forward to some trips with the new Jeep. I guess I will suck it up and learn to ride shotgun.

If you guys need anything let me know. Mike and crew are going to have fun doing the race prep on it. Sometimes I wish we were not on the edge of no where.

Talk to you guys next week. SEMA... yeah

I will get some more pics of it when I pick it up. It's getting prepped right now for our Baja pre run. Here's a picture of it at the MDR race, photo taken by Trackside Photo -

http://www.tracksidephoto.com/gallery/gallery/2006/MDR/2006MDROutlaw250/Trucks/Gibson_02729.jpg

It's got Deaver springs front and rear, Sway Away 2.5 remote reservoir shocks, Sway Away hydrauic bumpstops, Rubicon Express arms. It's got the stock 4.0 motor, 5 spd, and 231 tcase, Spidertrax fab 9 rear end with 35 spline Superior shafts and a spool, 33" BFGs on American Racing rims, and Mastercraft seats. Of course the real work on the rig is in the tube work. It has a great cage in it to keep the unibody from disintegrating.

There is/was no demise. There just isn't a 1700 class in the Baja 1000 this year. The Jeepspeed organization is alive and well, and far from going away.

Cool forum! No to split hairs but that truck did not win the 1000 in class 3 in 2004. Don Moss in his full size Bronco won that race for class 3 and every other race that he's entered in class 3 for years (he's only missed a couple of races and that wasn't one of them).

I'm crew chief for Old Horse Racing, we'll have 2 Early Bronco's racing this year. One has a 700 HP motor built by Sunray, the other is a 500 HP that got 3rd in class 3 in 2004.

See you down there!!!

Thanks Gummi. We're going to tear it up this year!

Lance, Jeepspeed is a cool class and that's a good time. We broke a transfer case crossmember that year that had to be rebuilt about 1/3 of the way through (in El Crucero) and then got nurfed while going around a corner and rolled down an embankment. A bunch of Mexicans rolled us back over and cut a path in the cactus so we could get back on course. We had to put the truck back together and finish the race with a hand held flashlight (the kind that plugs into your cigarette lighter).

Anyway... welcome to the desert scene, there's a lot of fun to be had down there!!!
