Well, a few weeks ago, I discovered first hand that Edelbrock carbs don't like to idle on steep inclines, so I bought the offroad needles and seats. I installed them, and adjusted the floats as the directions stated (7/16" if I remember right). Now my truck acts as if it is starved of fuel under heavy throttle. Is this a common problem, and do I just need to re-adjust the floats a little higher? Or do y'all think I have another problem here? Thanks for the help.

If your gonna 4 wheel the truck then throw that carb away...
When you lower the floats you will create a starvation problem under acceleration. The jets for your primary circut are in the front of the float bowl, and when you take off all the fuel sloshes to the back of the float bowl away from the jets. If you raise the fuel level you won't have that problem any more but it still won't like any angles that you throw at it.
Get a good rochester or go fuel injection. the latter being my choice.

Home built is right on the money..........
Edelbrock performers, holleys and Carter AFBs belong on flat land driving vehicles............cars.
I've screwed around with all of tose carbs and never could get them to work to my satisfaction. You can tweek them to work better, but not as well as a stock Qjet.
The Qjet is IMO and experience the best stock offroad carb.

Step 1 remove card,
Step 2 throw carb in the trash
Step 3 replace with Q-Jet
never had any luck with them and I am a rpretty good carb guy

Thanks for the advice y'all. The truck had the carb on it when I bought it, so that's my starting point. I'd love to get fuel injection, but it's not in the budget right now. Guess it's time to find me a Q-jet.
