i love my local free paper, the gold panner. that is where i found my 12x36 craftsman lathe. this morning i found a 6x24 craftsman lathe for sale. add said $250. i called the number bright and early this morning and told him if it was in working condition consider it sold. i headed over to check it out after work today. it was in working like he said and pretty clean so i got it. it is a model number 101.21400.

i guess it is a 6x18", not 24". it also came with a 4 jaw chuck, some tooling, and a complete set of change gears for threading.

Very nice. you're gonna be amazed at how many jobs you find you have for both of them.

How did the reassembly of the bigger one go?

the larger lathe is still being worked on. right now i am finishing all of the bare metal hardware in black oxide. it is turning out pretty good.

i wanted a small lathe to have at my house for a bit of gunsmithing i have in mind. i have been keeping my eye out for a small craftsman for a while now. only problem now is i don't have a garage at my house. i wonder if any one will think i am a red neck if i have a lathe in my house next to my computer or maybe in my kitchen???:D

i just got on craftsman's site and found out that parts are still available for this and my larger lathe. they are expensive but that is cool i can still get parts.

I rebuilt a motorcycle engine on my bedroom floor once. I wonder if that would fly now that I'm married? :D
