Here is the pic. The guy on the phone says its an F250 axle from a 78 Ford. The more I look at it tho....I don't see any leaf's in the front. F150? It's a D44....and even looks to be high pinion. But what are the links on each side of the frame? Guess my question is....is this one of those bad apple axles with the two piece passenger side tubes and the casting in the axle tubes? Or is it the one I want......one piece tubes and high pinion. Thanks in advance. And the more I think about it...didn't they put D60's in the rear of 78 fords? This guy says the rear is a 9".

HP44 from a F150. "C"s could be welded or cast in the housing. Hard to tell from the picture.

Yup half ton, all 3/4 tons are leafs. The arms are the control arms for coils.

The guy told me that he removed the cab, and it said F250 on the side. I'm guessing it had been transplanted.

If you're looking for a 44, this one may still be OK. You need to look at the mounts for the radius arms closely (by unbolting the four large bolts that hold the radius arm caps on) and see if they are welded on or single piece cast. If they are welded on, an hour or two of grinding will take them off and the axle will be quite useable.

you can set up the radius arms to perform well, but i dont know how they hold up to a serious thrashing.
