When I am flat towing the 40 should these two bolts be tightened all of the way down or until the start to snug against their bracket? They have a nut on them that locks so wether it is 3 turns in or all the way tight they aren't coming off by themselves. Thanks.

[edit - I'm a moron, way to early for tech]

Anyway.... I leave those loose on my tow bar, helps get it back on (I use the tow shackles). I crank down on the bolts on the Ball end of the tow bar.

here is a question from me. i have receiver hitch on my front bumper and i was wondering if i can build a tow receiver with a single bar coming out and going to my ball on my tow rig?? sometimes i cant get a trailer and i have to flat tow. can i use a single straight shot tow-bar or is there a real need for the triangulation of most tow bars on the marked???

the links are triangulated to distribute the load better, a straight bar will try and kink right at the receiver. its possible but it would have to be built very sturdy

Ken, my pivot points where the tow bar go into the winch tray have the same type of nuts. Mine is just loose enough to where I can rotate them around to align the towbar quick connect pins.

I'd put some bolts and reinforcement brackets on those tow bar brackets. I wouldn't trust the frame horns or bumper to carry the load, and would be concerned about the metal tearing around the weld.

From my experience, cruzahs don't flat tow very well. I have had the wheels jack sideways on slow turns....Good thing they were slow turns. I only do flat tows with a towbar for emergency purposes only............:skull:
