Was day dreaming at work today [oh oh].

Looks like the truck I bought will probably need some work to get past the safety - front end work.

It kinda burns my ass to spend money on IFS (2WD no less!) so I was thinking that maybe I should weld in a front axle out of a 1 ton (and add a C14 to the rear at the same time).

So....

What are the kits that are out there to do this? Simple/cheap is what I'm looking for...but good quality or bang for the buck. I figure a leaf kit would be a weekend weld in project.

For axles, are the 4x4 1 ton running gear for the previous generation Chev's mostly bolt in for the rear. Correct width? I may have access to some CUCV axles - what the hell is a 1-1/4 ton anyway? Are we talking D60/C14 combo or other weird science?

My truck is 305 with 700R4. If I source a 4x4 700R4 with t-case does that mean NP241? Other/better options on the t-case that are bolt together to the 700R4? The drop would have to match of course...

Steering?

I'm looking for "easy", I have enough other crap to design/fabricate from scratch for the Suzukis on the go.

Any insights appreciated.

I think a np205 or np203 bolts to that tranny but a 2wd and 4wd trannys could be different, use a dana 60 front and a 14 bolt full floater in the rear u will have to make a transfer case crossmember and do a lot of coustom work but it can be done. try www.offroadunlimited.com for a kit.

ORU makes a kit for SAS on a IFS 4x4, but it might work for a 2x. It's not cheap though. You'll probably have to make it up yourself.

I'm pretty sure you're right on the CUCV being a 60/14.

Tranny & t/c would have to be pre IFS ('88).

The only easy way to do this is sell your truck & buy a 4x4.
Just my opinion.
