For you Jeepspeeders out there, are there any "in-a-box" suspension systems that can survive the abuse like Rubicon Express or Rusty's off-road for example or is everything custom? I picked up a cheap XJ and would like to do something different from the big axle, big tire, beat it on the rocks routine.

Major components, such as suspension kits, must be readily available to the general public.

We run Full-Traction

the rules are VERY clear on what you can and cannot have... any production, readily availiable aftermarket suspension sytem is legal, long or short arm.

panhard bar's are a bigger issue than links. get the biggest baddest one you can! RE now has a .188 wall with 1/2in bolt's on the market, and worth every dime.

As of 06 the panard bar is open, stock concept....same with the steering

The lift kits are all pretty much standard shelf parts.
What really helps in the jeepspeed racing is the shocks. They are either triple bypass or 3"smooth body. This is if you want to somewhat handle woops and desert driving. And even then fast is a relative term in a jeep..:) with limits to travel.

Holy small tires. What size are those? Are those the actual tires you will be running? Throw down a coat of paint, slightly bigger tires and she'll look pretty good. How long did your cage take you? Last question, Do you have a link to your build up?

those are 31/11.50 claws, we will be running 33/12.50 bighorns, cage took a month to build, by my buddy working only evenings/weekends, I don't have a link yet but I am gathering one together, still have lots to do, plumb fuel cell, install seats, parker pumpers, radio/intercom, gps, limit straps, panhard, truss front 2wd beam, re-gear front D30, boy better get to work, it has been hard only being able to work on it at night and some weekends(married with children).

What unibody reinforcing are you guys typically doing? Are the T&J chassis stiffeners still around and are they worth a damn? Other alternatives?

Got out of the XJ scene about 2 years ago as the FT kits were just coming to market. Doing something like this is very appealing to me, but unfortunately I live on the East Coast.

tons of cage, through the fire-wall, plated frame-rails at least up front, some have tubing next the frame as well... they're basically building a full tube-chassis with an XJ uni-body worked in/around it.

you can see some under-bracing here:
