Got a used Ramsey RE8000. When I got it the cables and remote were not connected to the winch. (duh) There is one long cable that he said goes to the battery and the other two cables that go to the winch and that is all. OK, never hooked one up but damn, how hard can this be? 3 cables no problem. Well I hooked them up and I get nothing. I changed the two around on the winch and still get nothing. I have checked (with a 12 volt test light) and I get power to the winch when I hit the remote but nothing happens. Also the solenoids do not click when the remote is activated. (should they?) I have juce coming out of them and down to the winch. No clicking or noise of any kind from the winch either. Could it be a bad solenoid? Could it be that the motor itself is shot? Thanks in advance for your ideas-Brad

Ramsey didn't make an M8000, Warn does. I have Warn (M8000, 8274) and Ramsey (RE8000, REP9000) winches on various rigs. If you can get more info on what it really is I might be able to help.

Yes, your solenoids should "click" when activated

I have that winch - only two wires if you have the solenoid attached. Red and black - you should be able to figure what those colors mean ;)

Do you have the solenoid (square box)?

Yea, I have the square box & it has 2 solenoids. Also all 3 cables are black.
