I got my hands on a rolled 1/2 ton with a 4500 and a 231 transfer in it. I was thinking of putting it in my 83 Ramcharger. Has anybody done this?

1/2 tons got 4500's?

if it is a 1/2 ton it is either an NP2500 or an NP3500 4500 was only available in 3/4 and 1 ton..



By the way if it is a 2500 and you want to sell it cheaply let me know I may be interested in it for my flatty..

It has a PTO plate on the drivers side.

It's also a 92.The dealship said it should be a 4500 also.

what does the 4500 vs 435 have anything to do with this thread? i think the nv4500 is a piece of crap! i have a 435 i'll trade you just to help a fellow dodge guy out. you pay shipping and its yours! :flipoff2:

I got these from http://www.motivegear.com in their tech pageswhich also has pictures..also according to the sales brochures at the time their is one 5 spd listed for the gas engines and the getrag listed for the Cummins

5 speed, fully synchronized top loaded heavy-duty transmission. Cast iron case and extension housing with aluminum shift cover. Unit weighs 200 lbs.. Found in GM full size trucks and stripped chassis 92 and up, and in 1994 and up Dodge V8 trucks. There is also a 4500HD model that is used in 1994 and up Dodge trucks behind the V10 diesel engines. This unit MUST use Castrol Syntorque Fluid for lubrication fill.

New Process 2500 (New Venture 535)
Light duty 5 speed fully synchronized aluminum case transmission with 4 bolt top cover. Available in 2 and 4wd models. The shifter is located behind top cover on top of transmission. This is a center support type of transmission.

Well, that's a great page, put I found a few things off on it, I've looked under this truck and it has a PTO plate on the drivers side just like a 4500. I didn't see that on the others. Also it said that the 435 only went to 85. Big wrong there. I had a 88 Ramcharger with a 435 in it. I bought it new so nothing was done there. The dealsip also said that the dodge books said it was a 4500.

I love my 4500. Have one in both my Jeep and 3/4 GMC.

I'm changing my gears to 456 with the 4500. I think it will work great for me. I've got 35s on it so I think the whole thing will work. I'm also putting the 92 front clip on the 83.

NV4500's have PTO covers on both sides. Or at least the HD's do.
