: Toyota Quick Release Door Hinge Kit

UPDATED

As some of you guys know I've been working on quick release door hinges for a while now. I've got proto types that look sweet. These bad boys are CNC Laser cut, and CNC press bent for perfection and amazing bling bling quality. They feature spring clip pivots so the pivot can't come out unless you unhook the clip, for safety, as well as bronze bushings for the pins to ride on. The kit will include enough parts to have two SETS of doors for your truck set up to be easily changeable in a mater of minutes, without having to even get out a wrench, perfect if you have a set of street/full doors, and a set of any tube door, or half doors that you run on the trail. :D

Each kit is $85 for a full set. The kit includes four (4) body sides of the hinge, eight (8) door sides (enough to mount two sets of doors, 2 driver + 2 passenger), the 4 pins, and the extra bolts to bolt the door sides to your second set of doors. They will reuse the stock bolts, and bolt locations, and the swing action of the door will remain the same. Additional door side hardware is also available.

For hi-res photos click here (http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/hingekitphotos.htm)

Again the sets include everything needed. They reuse the stock bolts on the truck side, and one set of doors, and include new bolts for the second set of doors. They also include hinge pins.

Click here (http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/hingekit.htm) to order yours today!

i still need to send you pics of front half exo all done and post-badlands pics, if it weren't for your sliders i would have completely junked my DD its first time out!

Much better pricing. Are your tube doors compatable with these hinges? Will there be reduced package pricing? I think a package that includes tube doors and enough quick release hardware to accomodate both tube doors and two stock doors would be sweet.

*EDIT* Are you going to increase the pin size? Looks kinda small.

Sweet, I’ll get a hold of you. I CAN’T WAIT to see that tube work mounted up. It looked like it could kill just sitting in the shop! I take it you wheeled it pretty hard hu? Had a customer call me from Texas Take over this weekend raving about having just dropped his truck 4 feet on the DOM sliders and hardly doing anything to them! :D

Is there enough clearance to the top of the fender to pull the pins? Or do they drop out the bottom?

Bandit,
If there's enough interest, I'll do this:
For this month (at least), I'll offer a package, if you order the hinges and doors, get the set for $242 for older truck doors, and $252 for Tacoma doors and hinges.

Pin is 1/4. I'll consider jumping to 5/16, but in double shear like this 1/4 plenty.

I would be interested in a full set for full doors and some half doors.

I wouldn't want them powder coated, since they will take a beating anyway when they go on and off and require paint to touch up.

Ah another beautiful benefit is I have them for all trucks at least 84-04.

I sent you a PM. :)

These will not come PCed because of the costs. They'll come raw ready to be wiped down and painted up to the color, and paint of your choice. If you'd like them powder coated please get a hold of me (PM, email, phone here (http://4xinnovations.com/pages/contact.htm)) and we'll work that out.

Thanks guys! I'll be starting preorder by the end of this week.

You've got it. :grinpimp: $65 for 4 body side bases, and 8 door sides (enough for one truck to have two (2) sets of easily interchangeable doors), or $50 for 4 body sides, and 4 door sides (enough for one truck to have one set of easily removable doors). And all needed hardware of course too.

Tony, sent you a PM as well.

Each kit will cost $65 for a full set of $50 for partial set. Additional door side hardware will be available as well.

Sweet guy, I'll get everything set up for preorder stuff tonight and get rolling tomorrow morning on it. Best thing to do is check back on this thread, or the hinge page on our website, add the hinges to the basket and go sailing away with the sickes hinges ever! Lead time will be 3-4 weeks, so I expect to begin shipping around T-day.

Thanks to the Mods!

How does the latch on your half-doors work? Don't see any detail photos.

Might want to consider running a small-diameter section of tubing along the very bottom of the door frame with a piece of sheet metal connecting it to your lower primary tube. I don't know about other states, but in CA there has to be wall so many inches high (5"?) above the floorboard to be street legal. (imagine the step-over on Jeeps) Probably to keep stuff from rolling out of the truck. (Side mirrors would have to be mounted on the A-pillar, or added to your tube half-doors by the end user.)

I may have misled you. The kit comes with hinges that will work for the 2nd gen runners BUT at $65 it only comes with the hardware to have two sets of doors interchangeable on the truck. In other words, it comes with 4 hinge halves to mount to the body, 2 each side of the body, and 8 door side halves, 2 go on each door, for a total of two interchangeable door sets (IE stock doors that can be interchanged with tube or half doors easily). If what you are looking for is to be able to interchange all 4 doors with another set you will need to purchase two compete sets for $130. If you would just like all 4 to be easily removable, you can purchase 2 half sets for $100. The half set only includes 4 body side mounts, and 4 door side mounts, non of the extra hardware for interchanging the doors.

I've gotten the preorder information up on our website. If you're interested in the hinge kits see this page (http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/hingekit.htm).

If you are interested in a set of doors and hinges together see this page. (http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/doors.htm)

This is for Preorders. I'm going to take preorders for the next few days. Expected lead time is between 3-4 weeks for the hinge kits, if you order doors you may actually receive those earlier. I will email you the tracking information when the hinges ship out. If there are any issues I will communicate directly with you.

Thanks for your support everyone!

well for one, if you do happen to lean your tube doors on a stump/ rock or whatever the brackets would hold up better than the stock ones:)

Thats all fine and dandy till you damage yourself cuz you have no protection.

I don't wheel with no doors . . . my next set of tube doors will have significantly more protection than mine do now. I also want a place to rest my arm like the edge of the window frame on a stock door.

Holy sh!t Kurt those things aren't cheap at $40 a pair!

Adam at 4xinnovations is modifying my in cab cage to fit in a smaller package so I can save $$ on shipping, gotta like that!! I'll have to do some extra welding but it's worth the savings, it ain't cheap to ship things way up here.

I'm in the final stages of my body swap after my roll, which was exactly one year ago today. Got lucky when I rolled with two occupants and no injuries, don't want to take the risk again though so in goes a cage.
I saw your thread where you flopped so I can see why you're after one too.

Holy sh!t Kurt those things aren't cheap at $40 a pair!

Here is another brand and style I looked at ordering. Slightly cheaper.

http://www.raingler.com/shop/productDetails.asp?productID=5

I was kind in a rush to get mine before my trip to Moab so I had to go with what I could get in time back then. Good to hear your getting a cage for protection. My mom once asked me if I wear a helmet when offroading and after saying no she thought I should consider it. Adam is great to deal with. Post up pictures after you get the cage installed.

traxman25
11-08-2006, 08:14 PM
Yeah those grab handles are pretty pricey, but they are nice. A couple of things I like about them is that if you do roll you don't have to worry about your hand getting pintched between the body the cage (if you had no handle at all) and you don't have to worry about hitting your head on a metal handle that sticks down into the compartment.

No the laser cutter is late finishing the order. I'll know more tomorrow when I talk to them again. We're looking to get them all shipped around the 13th.

Everyone who purchased a set will be getting an email about order progress as soon as I get the parts in house. I don't like saying a date when at this time it's out of my control.

will the tube doors and hinges fit an 82 p/u? It says on your site they are 83 and up. If they will fit count me in for a set.

traxman25
03-25-2007, 08:40 PM
I do not yet have doors that will fit the 82s. I know just about everything about them except for one thing and it's not something that can easily be measured and replicated. What I have to offer for the 79-82 series is a kit door, pm or email me if you're interested.

Are these just for the mini trucks/runners or will they work on an fj60? Or are you planning some for other TOYS?

http://4xinnovations.com/images/doorhingeassmlowres2.jpg

Each kit will cost $65 for a full set of $50 for partial set. Additional door side hardware will be available as well.

How many of you would be seriously interested in these hinges? To move forward with these I will need to get half deposits or full payment before they are available to ship on at least 10 sets.

I'm also looking into having these powder coated, which may, or may not add to the cost, hopefully not!

For hi-res photos click here (http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/hingekitphotos.htm)
http://4xinnovations.com/images/doorbodylowres.jpg
The body side before final processing. (of course yours won't come with surface rust! ;) )
http://4xinnovations.com/images/doorswinglowres.jpg

Partial sets include the hardware to make one set of doors removable, but not the second set of door sides to for a second set of interchangable doors.

Again the sets include everything needed. They reuse the stock bolts on the truck side, and one set of doors, and include new bolts for the second set of doors. They also include hinge pins.

What do you guys think?

BTW here's the drawing for the new hinges, the quality will be the same as the photos above.

Edit, Preorders are being taken here (http://4xinnovations.com/pages/guarding/hingekit.htm').
