What exactly is the advantage to install a Slip Yoke Eliminator for the NP231 ? Why should I do that ? Who can give technical details or can discribe the functions of a Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit ? Thanks

1) It makes your 231 shorter, which allows you to run a longer driveshaft. In most cases this will allow you to run a 4 inch or taller lift without using a transfer case drop kit.
2) It gets rid of that cheesy slip yoke. This allows you to take out the rear driveshaft and keep going in front wheel drive if something happens to the rear. Can't do that with the slip yoke - it will spew fluid.
3) Most slip yoke eliminator kits upgrade the output shaft to a much stronger unit that is less prone to breakage.

Oh yes you can! Just take a plastic bag and fold it over a few times and a strong rubber band (the fabric ones chicks use in their hair work best) and put it on the end of the slip yoke cone like a condom. Not permanent, but it'll get you home in front wheel drive... Worked for me on more than one occaision.
