I have been planning this swap for some time now. I had purchased a HP D44 from a friend @ a month ago. Just picked up my rear limited slip D44, (came from a 67 F100) saturday.
I've done the search and found some great info, thanx for all your contributions. But, (you know there was a but) The one piece of help or advice that I'm after now is, what are people doing to mount the radius arm mounts to the frame/Xmember. Are you all fabbing them from scratch, or modifying what came off the Fords? At this time, my fabbing tools are at a minimum, also I have the neighborhood SS always on my ass.
I may pool my pennies together and have a local shop do this part for me.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanx guys.

Look here at NAXJA (http://www.naxja.org/html/techarticles/ebswap.html) for some help. His name is FarmerMatt, and I don't know if he posts here or not, but you can do a search over there and email him with some questions. I'm buying a 74 RC D44 today from an F150, and will be doing the same thing later this year. Best of luck, and wish I could help more.

Holy Shiat I feel stupid. I totally forgot about the NAXJA site. Thanx willisXJ. Othere may be after the same info too.
I figured as much that I would be better off going custom on the Xmember. Never seen it yet so I had not thought about it much otherwise.

I have not researched this yet, but I plan to call up Clayton (ya know, the long arm guy), and see if he sells his weld in xmember separate. I'd imagine he would. This xmember welds in at the 'frame' rails, and that is what the arms bolt to. The center of the xmember still drops out to change trans or tcase, so you don't have to drop the suspension like some other long arms kits. This is of course if you go with custom arms, which I plan to.

I would like to see some pics of this Xmember. Sounds like a good setup.
I plan on stopping by my local shop, Poudre Valley Offroad, and see what Nick could do. He has a Beefed XJ that ROCKS. People may have seen it down at Moab.
I'll do a search for Clifton and his work.
Thanx again.:)

Do a search for Clayton, not Clifton, over at NAXJA, the as a last resort, on JU. I haven't seen much over here about the Clayton's long arms, and don't know if he has a pic of the xmember online or not, but his web site is Claytonoffroad.com (http://www.claytonoffroad.com/) . If you find anything out, let me know, since I'll be doing the same thing in about a year.

Oops, I'm not good with names, I must've been tired.
I think that I have come up with a solution to my problem, but I need to lay it out on paper before I proceed. I've seen custom Xmembers done in tubular form, but I don't like that idea, while it does work for a buddys Xtreme XJ. I'll PM you when I finish the design. I'll be loking for Claytons stuff later this week.
