Someone mentioned that you would have to remove your yokohama sticker....

Since the manufacture of that machine is obviously not attributable to Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Merc Benz, etc, and I believe you ARE allowed to have vehicle manufacturer badging on the truck, why not say Yokohama is the make or model of the rig?????

I think it would work, esp you being from israel, like they know all the vehicles that are available in israel anyway!

Just a thought

nah, just thinkin outside the box... Has someone already tried and failed at this? Or suggested it and gotten shot down by the TTC guys, or what?

Not to say it is a stroke of genius or anything, but its worth a shot, like half the other crackpot shit that gets put up around here, and some of it ends up being a great idea and the new bitchin thing (like beadlocks for instance)

dear mr. Foley,

would you be so kind as to consider being my lawful representative regarding this matter before the Four Wheelr
authorities?

i am positive that my sponsors will be deeply grateful for any
positive result of your noble representation and there by will tend to show their appriciation in a very earthly manner(money makes the world go around, the world go around...:)).

say, how's my english? much better since i joined the pirate BB, right?

foley, as you might have already suspected, your idea is not necessarily one of the brighter ones, but i appriciate it very much just the same. it really is sweet of you to occupy your mind in my favor and i love you for it.:):)

keep on thinking man, you're bound to get it in the end:D :D

BTW, you are not :smokin: some kind of $hit, now are you????  ;)

Doesn't Yokohama advertise in Four Wheeler magazine? Maybe Corporate Yokohama could put some pressure on Four Wheeler magazine so that you could run that sticker? Just a thought.

my sponsor is the local dealer of Yokohama, not the Japanese
main corporation, although the corp does sponsor the whole
extreme 4x4 league in Israel.

i doubt if such a thing can be achieved in such a short time, not to mention how much talking, writing and persuading this will take.

oh well, i guess you just can't win'em all:rolleyes:

Anytime you get into an event there may be issues with sponsor stickers or even just stickers of gear on your truck. That holds true for any type of sport. Heck Stephan Watson (Green K5 that finished 2nd last year) had to pull his own company stickers off his rig to compete.
My thought is FW doesn't want the hassle of haveing to deal with one of those company's brass if for some off the wall reason they decided to take legal action. Also by not allowing coprate sponsor stickers it may well keep this more down to earth. If Sponsor stickers were allowed you might have some guy bringing in a $100k purpose built rig just for that event to get the coverage. That would kill the low budget guy. This is after all supose to be more of the average Joe event.

Coming from stock car background, I was a bit suprised to see that these event sponsors wanted participants sponsors removed. We have locations on our cars that are designated for event sponsors, and we get a diagram as to where these decals go on the car, but the rest of the sheet metal is ours to sell to whomever we can get to support our efforts. Unfortunatly Im not familiar with the TTC to know or understand anything as to what I speak of regarding their event, or how they run it, but it did seem to me unreasonable to not allow the name of the business or product name of the participants sponsor to be displayed somewhere on the vehicle.

Transforming from one sport into another is going to have its learning curves for me, but coming from a sport that relies heavily on the help generated from sponsors, this just seemed alarming to me.

thank you for the many compliments - it is sweet of you.

to your question, i never had that much chance to practice my english(and my typing..:) ). since i started with all this posting business my english got a bit less rusty, and for that alone i am grateful to the PBB.

although i hold an American passport, i was'nt born here, and the last time i've spent some time in the states was when i was 12 years old, and believe me, that was a LONG time ago; i would'nt tell you though HOW long:D:D
as for slang - reading all the stuff you guys pour on the board, it's difficult not to get some of it and adopt it:D :D

about the paypal account - actually i have one and the e-mail is specified in my "profile", so your $2 are most welcome:D:D. seriously now - i find it quite uncomfortable to tell people "please gimme your bucks" even if everyone knows that it is one hell of a costly operation to bring the frog all the way to the TTC.:emb: :emb: :emb: :emb:

Unfortunately, TTC is a promoter-driven event, more than a participant-driven one. So, Four Wheel Parts (the title sponsor) gets to decree what they want on and off of competitors' vehicles--you don't like it, you don't get photos of your stuff printed.

Last year, Steve Watson arrived just in time for the show-n-shine/engineering judging, and they made him scrape his own company stickers prior to getting in line with the rest of us. They told me ahead of time, I'd have to scrape company stuff, but non-profit (ie, BlueRibbon, United, Colorado Association, my local club) stickers could stay. I tried to tell them that I don't actually make money on Rockstomper, but they didn't buy it... :(

Bottom line, if Barry shows up with Yoko down the sides of the Frog, they'll make him scrape it off right there, prior to lining up.

Reaper, I agree that they want to keep it "real-world", but (having been there) I honestly believe it's more a matter of Four Wheel Parts pays Four Wheeler Mag directly; they basically pay for the event. All the Four Wheeler staff does is show up and write about it, and the reality is, the event is put on by Four Wheel Parts ($$$-wise) using Four Wheeler's people mostly for credibility and coverage purposes. As such, Four Wheel Parts doesn't want to be paying for an event where, say, Desert Rat gets to advertise and Four Wheel Parts doesn't get any of that money.

I had an interesting discussion of this with one of the guys from Four Wheeler after dinner one night--they handed out a "goodie bag" of stickers and stuff, and said, "This sticker has to be on your windshield" and I think they specified a couple other things too. But they gave us about eight different stickers. The general thought I got from the guy I cornered, was, Four Wheel Parts has at least some influence on which pictures get printed--as such, more Four Wheel Parts stickers on more sides of your rig, improves your chances of photos of your rig, getting printed. He wouldn't say it like that, but he did acknowledge that there's more influence there than he thought was appropriate.

Sounds like a lot of BS to me just have your rig in a magazine. But then again everytime I pick one up, the "featured" rig has 16 chrome shocks, 4 matching stabilizers, 8" lift blocks, "Z" style draginks and enough neon lights to light up a club and maybe a rear locker :D

By the (rule)book, he'll have to remove them.

Makes me wonder, however, about some things... like the laser-cut "Avalanche" rocker guards for Jeeps... if you're running those, since they can't really expect you to remove critical equipment, what do you do about that one?

In the same lines, if you had a skidplate with a laser-cut logo in it, you wouldn't (likely) be asked to remove it.

Steve Watson was permitted to run his TrailReady beadlocks without reprisal--they're machined with TR's logo.

So this all leads me to think, if you've got something machined into the parts of the vehicle, they'll let it slide--if it's a sticker, it's not kosher.

Barry, what about plasma-cutting a Yoko "Y" into a couple of body panels on the Frog? Keep the sponsor happy, and there's not much Four Wheeler's gonna be able to do about it, aside from whine-n-moan.

Hm.

Interesting, Scott.

There's no stickers on the Hulk. Period. That's by design. I was debating over a vanity license plate with the company name (that didn't pay to build the truck, I did), they'd have a tough time saying no to that.

I personally have a problem with this whole sticker thing. And I really don't know if I could be coerced to run stickers for a company that had absolutely no input on the building of my truck. Nada. I'm not going to advertise for a company when there are others that I feel should have that advertising long before 4WPW.

I understand that large events need sponsorship to hold them. But if I can't run any stickers of my choice, then I can't run any stickers of their choice.

no sponsers and nor did i have any except maybe a little deal to run some wrangler nw stickers at some mud events after top truck, I not intentionally left the agr sticker on my rock ram and well hell it got on the cover and you can read rock ram as plain as day and i called them up when my ram bent itself and buckled into my leafspring and they gave me a bunch of hoopla bullshit about there is no warranty and such on those items but if you would send it to us we would like to see it so we can see if there is a problem they could address it, but still made no offer to fix it and send it back so f*** um i will just put a bigchief on there and hy-steer at the same time and will not be giving them anymore business mine or friends. I can see where the frog here could use the money considering where he is from and i will put in a couple of bucks if needed but unfortunatly that is something you shoud have considered before entering not to mention accepting being in toptruck. Good Luck and oh yeah ROCKSTOMPER i will be probally contacting you soon on a set of your beadlocks maybe 2 sets if we like them. Any discounts for a fellow top truck competitor(ha,ha) See ya, Brian

Hi Omer,

no sticker problem.

it's just that the overall cost for the whole operation is b i g and i have to try anything in order find a way to collect money from any possible source.
you know how things are now back home and how difficult it is getting companies here to open their pockets.

Yokohama are good, but not as nearly enough.

that the story.

how about that motor of yours? was it a 305?

Anyway, its cool, and if anyone ever gets off their ass and deposits anything in my paypal account for some parts I can probly even throw a few bones your way (to ice over my stoooppiid ass).

Anywho, I suggest you find some crafty way to make 4wparts at least shove that sticker up their asses, even if you can't outwit them into letting you keep it on your rig.

Look at any of the pics you can find of my truck... note the license plates? RKSTMPR. :) The rules say it's gotta be street legal, registered, and insured... but they don't check past "does it have plates?" That was as close to a Rockstomper sticker as I could get for the event. And I figured, they can't make me take off a quasi-commercial license plate--then the truck wouldn't be stret legal.

I personally have a problem with this whole sticker thing. And I really don't know if I could be coerced to run stickers for a company that had absolutely no input on the building of my truck. Nada. But if I can't run any stickers of my choice, then I can't run any stickers of their choice.

That's kinda the gotcha to the whole thing, too... the official event sticker, the one that says "Top Truck Challenge", the only one they said I had to run, in order to compete, also says "4 Wheel Parts" on it. It came off as soon as I got home, but they said I had to run it for the event.
