I have been on the lookout for a '79 F-250 just to pull some parts for upgrading the front end on my F-150.

Yesterday while running around with some friends looking for antiques and other hobbies, I spotted the square headlights of a '79 next to a run down building.

U-turn to see if it was a 4x4 and if it might have the parts I am looking for.

Lo and behold it was a Crewcab 4x4. My previous truck was a '73 1-ton Crewcab 4x2 and I didn't see many of them. Wondering how rare this 4x4 might be. With out a close look it looked all there except a front grill and radiator. I am going to try and get back to that area, which is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home in the next few weeks.

I will try to track down the owner, as I am thinking of this truck as a tow vehicle. My Expedition is gutless for towing my F-150.

Thanks,

Mike

You talking about one of these?

I found it at my Grandmothers house sitting under a tree( it had been there for a while) it had rust holes in the Hood, Roof and around the fornt and back windows. I bought it form my uncle for 2 bucks when I was a JR. in highschool. I got the motor runnig again then when I went to college I gave it to my brother who with the help of me and my dad patched all the holes and repainted it and got it street legel again, and my borhter has been driving it on the road for over a year now.

My Dad owned one, and used it as a work truck for his construction company. We towed a loaded down tool trailer all over to different job sites, and it was a good, reliabe truck.

I think one would make a good tow vehicle.

Been thinking about going smaller. In other words replacing the F-150 with a EB or a Jeep.

The 460, C-6, NP205 from my F-150 would be perfect to put this truck on the road. The 9" and HP Dana 44 would work in a Jeep with the right transfer case.

Trying to get one of my customer's in that area to commit to a service call so I can get paid to drive down and take a closer look at it.

If you were closer I could hook you up with one. My friend has 4 of them just setting there.

I see you are in Shamokin. Been to Shamokin Dam recently? I have family all over that area. Aunt' and Uncle's in the Lewisburg area, also around Sunbury (sp?), Milton, etc....

I spent the first 12 years of my life in the rural area around Danville. If this falls through, don't be surprised if you hear from me the next time I visit.

t was having two of those uncle's with F-250's when I was a kid that I think hooked me on Fords.
