It would be cool for those that live in the Bay Area to post your favorite place to wheel that isn't too long of a drive from your place. You know, that special spot where you test your flex in a "real world" application, or just to fart around with all that free time you have :flipoff2:

For me, I like a little spot in Bay Point by a refinery. It's private property and the owners have some dirt bike trails weaving around. It's only around 15 minutes away from my house so it's a good place for me to vent and for my "girl" to stretch her legs :D Just be sure to watch the foliage. When you start seeing green reeds, watch it! The depth jumps from no water to 4 ft in about 2 ft:eek:

As long as you tread lightly you should have no problems wheeling around there. It is between 2 live train tracks and one dead one. Be sure to know which one is which :D

So how's 'bout it?

Always been a fan of Knoxville. It's a land about 1 hour north of the City of Napa. It's 30K acres of a bunch of fire trails and stuff but with the flood of earlier this year, Mother Nature provided us with some decent wheeling spots with some good rock areas too.

I go there once or twice a week. Do you have a white 4runner on revolvers?

knoxville can be fun. the most fun i ever had up there was at an organized cleanup a couple years back. i went back there a while back and it's just as bad or worse than before the cleanup. a yearly cleanup would be :cool2: for that place. personally, i wanna head up to micks...mix...miks....mics?(guess i haven't been up there in a while) canyon just outside of vacaville. there's some private land that the guy lets you wheel on. neil that owns the 4x4 shop in vacaville said something about a bunch of people going up there the weekend before halloween. i think it'd be cool to meet up with some people and head up there for a trail ride...

::edit:: i guess there was a thread for the halloween run. too bad this forum wasn't around when he posted it:( (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=520606)

looks like a really fun place... and right in our friggin back yard!

Yea, that cleanup was sponsered by a lot of folks and was mainly put together by a Local Sheriff. I wouldnt mind taking part of it. Like I had mentioned before, because of the rains, the grounds has deteriorated a lot and made some pretty decent trails.
Anywho, where do you live?

Legal or illegal wheeling? JK :) Some additional great spots a few hours away from teh East Bay are by Highway 4, with good scenery trails like SlickRock, Deer Valley, Boards Crossing, etc. great snow runs by Angels Camp area. Some more local trails and info with maps on www.californiajeeper.com

There's always Cow Mountain in Ukiah. They have a decent playground for rockcrawlers. Then we got some private land if you know the right people, there's some good spots near the coast..

There's one off of Hwy 4 following the river. the trail starts at the Sour grass camp ground. Nothing to hard core but fun to fart around with great scenery

Frank Raines outside of Tracy is decent. Make sure you call ahead to see if the creekbed is open. There was a fire there a couple of years back that closed most of it. Big open muddy hill climbs for those of you that are in to that. The creekbed is fun to mess around in and they have "real" campsites and whatnot, very family friendly.

that place outside of vacaville is pretty fun, I bet it would be just nasty after some rain. I went in june when Pychoticdeadguy on here organized a small group of people to go up there.

I want to wheel at Cow Mtn but its 3 1/2 hours from Chico.... Which sucks because the moonrocks and the rubicon are closer to us than that

Rant on

FYI, I would never post on the Internet any decent and unmolested LEGAL wheeling spots ever!!!

As much as the Internet is a great tool for organizing trips etc, it is also one of our worst enemies for causing decent places to be overrun by clowns who misuse and abuse, and fawk it it up for the decent wheelers.

Rant off
