I have a stock bronco that I am going to cut the fenders on. I am going to get fiberglass fender flares to add on after I cut them. But the problem that I have is that the rocker panels directly under the doors have some rock rash from wheelin. My question is, can I cut off those rocker panels and replace them with flush nerf bars. I have seen this in a couple of pictures before and it looks pretty good. Any info will help. Maybe even pictures if any of you did it also.
Thanks a lot

I like this myself..... If you prefer the rocker panel look, you might want to get a set of rock-skis from BC Broncos
I don't mind the rocker panel look but im not worried about keeping it. did you weld those to the body? also, is that something that you can just make or would it be better to buy it?
Thanks

did some of this, with a sawzall. It came out pretty good. I pretty much trashed the stock flares, they were barely hanging on.

You can remove your old rocker panels, just like you were going to replace them. Instead of putting on new ones weld in a piece of 2x4 or 4x4 3/16 wall square tubing. The doors will work like stock, you can trim and plug the end's to match your wheel well cut out and you can high-lift from it and pound rocks like crazy. No you don't have to extend anything to the frame, just use a MIG welder and weld them on the body. It will all make sense as soon as you get the old rocker panels off.

These are welded straight to the body. They are on a buddy's rig in colorado. I fashioned mine (no pics) just like them.

Sorry no pics, I took a sawzall in hand and chopped mine off right
under the door opening ! Had some rock sliders built and attached to frame . I like em' profusely and have no qualms as my rockers were eat up with cancer too . :flipoff2:

-yep, another question-
if you build your own, do you permanatly remove the driver side gas tank? or is it not noticeable? also do any of you know what size tanks are in the front and rear?
Thanks

Mine is cut to just protect the side tank, you can probally barely see it sticking out,
Most people just pull it
I was planing on pulling it and shaveing off that gas tank entrance hole. I just don't know if that tank will be enough. I don't see why it wouldn't be.:D :D

The tapered and capped ends really finish them off nicely. Currently, mine are cut-out and sitting in storage shed. When I start assembly this Winter, I'll definitely finish them off like that.
Side-note.... Currently I'm building a 40' x 60' stick-frame shop. The only work I'm doing to the trail rig is collecting parts and doing some machining of parts.
