ive been playing with the idea
of going with full width axles. I fould a guy parting a 1974 chevy he says it has a 10 bolt front and a 12 bolt rear? Now looking at http://coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtmlhttp://coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml
it looks like the 12 bolt is preaty strong? what about the front 0 bolt? is it the same as a dana 44?? would these bo good axles. would I need a ram assist for steering? would these be too wide for my toyota?? they guy wants 135 for each axle that seems very reasonable? what do you all thnk??
pics of rear axle here

unless it's been replaced, it should be a D44, not a 10 bolt. They are both about the same strength though. Outers are interchangable on them too. You won't need a ram assist for steering, but you may need a IFS steering box. You didn't mention what year your Toy is. I'm currently doing a FS axle swap on my 4Runner with D60s using Sky's fullsize bracket. You might want to look into it or build your own, not sure how mechanically inclined you are. The shackles are the hard part as they are offset.

i have an 85 runner. skys full size kit, ill ave to look into that. i have no welding skills so i would have a buddy help me. . I have skys boomerang shackles . the rear would I have to re weld the pearches??? front it would be better to widen the spring angers i see. i have the ifs box and fror bracket just not the weldr. Im doing an engine swap right now so its not running. but I have been collecting parts like crazy. i want to be able to start working on it and get it done all at once. he said it was a 10 bolt front. i havent seen pics yet.

Yes, the rear you could just move the perches on the axle to match the spring width. the shackles for the front come with the sky kit and it's well thought out and inclusive of needed parts. the shackles actually bend to the outside of the frame for the wider spring perches. Other things to consider are brakes. More specifically, a larger MC to move the fluid required and adapters to go from the metric lines on the Toy to the standard lines on the rears. I'm going to be using a Wilwood unit and adapters that I already had from another truck.

good point. i would need hysteer arms too. i already bought toyota high steer arms. he wants 135 an axle seems cheap but I already have a sky axle widening kit i have lift springs a elocker ( havent modified the axle yet. i have an 86 rear axle fot the toy. I should probably just stick to the toyota axle and just get soem bobby longs. I have a lc large bore mc and a t1oo 1 inch bore i think the landcruiser one is like 1 and 1/16 or maybe even bigger.

It should be a 44 front unless they put a 10 bolt in from a newer year.I would go with skys set up to make it ez.With the rear if you run biger than 35" I would go with a c clip eliminator. Moser sells one for under $150.00. last time I checked. With the ram you are going to need a 8" stroke with the dana 44 not a 6" that toys need.

In that case, I'd offer him 200 for the pair IF I knew I could sell em for 250-300 quick. check around to see if you can unload them for a tiny profit, otherwise, I'd not do it. Sounds like you've got a good setup already. Put it together and wheel it or it may end up sitting longer while you're still collecting parts.
