OK, since this forum is for those of us in Norcal I thought I'd mention somne fo my favorite mexican food places(burrito joints) in the area, and I am interested in finding out about anyplace you can recommend.

Taqueria San Jose: under 101 off the central San Rafael exit. Awesome food!!! Great prices but it can be a bit crowded from time to time. They also own Taqueria mi Familia which is a few miles down the road and usually less crowded.

Taqueria Aguilla(sp?): in the Pinole shopping center next to the Radio Shaq. Biggest frikin quesidillas around. The al Pastor is great, the helpings are enormous and it is rarely crowded.

Betos: in Sacramento at Howe and El Camino, smaller portions but the prices reflect that. The food is really good, the breakfast burritos especially. The bonus is that it is open 24hrs and has a drive through.

One that has been recommended to me but I have yet to try is called The New Mecca it is in Pittsburg on Railroad, if anyone has been there a review would be appreciated.

what do you recommend?:smokin:

Adalbertos....there's a few in sac. one at sunrise and coloma, one off bradshaw, and there's another one off madison(i can't remember exactly where). Decent food, some locations are open 24 hours and have drive throughs. I recommend the breakfast burritos....the #25 carne asada, eggs, cheese, and potatoes.

In davis, I like taquiteria guadalajara. There's one on covell and anderson.

La Victoria's in downtown San Jo', next to San Jose State (get the orange spicy sauce for extra kick).

Pedro's in Los Gatos. Get the steak burrito with the Cadillac marguirita and your all set.

La Bamba's & La Costena(spell?) off Middlefield/Rengstorf in Mnt View. Right next to each other. Go in the back of the grocery store at La Costena's, Its a real "hole in the wall" :D
Try the Pupusas @ La Bambas. Grub.
Havnt been there in a while, time to hit it up.

Also, Mi Ranchito on Laurel in San Carlos.
Thant one at the end of Harbor Blvd in Belmont right before 101.
Super Taco in Half Moon Bay next to Rite Aid and Straw Hat Pizza. I think its better than Tres Amigos on hwy1. Nice and greasy.
X2 on the El Grullense on the El in RWC, especially when loaded and its 2am:D

Im gonna have to hit up the ones in Modesto on weekends when im out there, been looking for a good place. :smokin:

In general, I would say there's not much good food to be had on Highway 50 between ElDo Hills and Pollock Pines. For Mexican food, there is one stand out - Tijuana Taqueria in Placerville on Broadway - at the extreme East end of Broadway out by the airport - it's a hole in the wall but the food is great!! Second choice is the Mexican place next to the Best Western on Missouri Flat road - don't recall the name but it was pretty good. The place in Pollock Pines - Los Hermanos - have not been there in a couple of years, it's just not that good - IMHO.

I'll second Eddie's Taqueria as the best Burrito joint in Sac. Only open for breakfast and lunch M-F, though.

Los hermanos in Pollock is great for the trip home from the Con, so I'll second or third that one.

Colina del Oro, three locations. One in Diamond Springs, one in ED Hills and one in Shingle Springs at the Ponderosa exit is pretty good. Great carne asada tacos.

Tiajuana Taqueria on upper Broadway gets another second. Packed with immigrants at lunch, a good sign for authenticity!

Another vote for La Costa in Oakley (fast food/outdoor only seating).

Guadalajara Grill in Concord (Ygnacio Valley Road & Clayton Rd).

There is a great place in Dixon... (not sure of the name)
A little place on the first exit going north on 80. It's on the right.
Has some tables outside, & seating inside, dirt parking lot & is open Xmas day (we stop there on the way up if we're hungry).

Any one of the million Mexican places in the Mission District of SF.
