Just wonderin what some of you have done for patterns on different tires. Each time I see someones pics, it seems that someone comes up with some new pattern. I myself don't have grooved tires so no pics either, but am thinkin about gettin a groover when its time to buy a new set of tires.:D

Do a search for threads by either fatkid or Tin Bender, I don't recall which one it was. Anyway, they showed a set of Boggers that they cut the crap out of;)

kinda bad pics...but you can see that all the outside treads are cut in half at 45 degrees and all the middle lugs are split perpendicular to the side wall. then all teh center lugs are siped. took a while but I never had so much traction in all my life.

Hey Mark, those grooved BFG's are actually CORR racing tires. Just a bit different than the AT's ;) Those are mine, BTW.

Here's a pic of someone else's uncut tires-

I realize that most people here are not all that interested in mud tires, but I posted these pics to encourage people to get creative with their tire grooving. These are pictures of some 38" TSL's that I went after with an "Ideal" tire grooving Iron that I bought from Randy's Race Mart. It took me approximately 8 hours for each tire.

If you are thinking about tackling a major re-shaping project, I'd suggest making some card board templates for the lug patterns. Then trace the temlpates onto the tire with a wax tire crayon. Follow up on the outline with the grooving Iron so that you have an easily recognisable pattern to work from. If you can do all of your grooving on a hot summer day it will make your life easier. I used a propane torch occasionally to pre-heat the rubber.

On superswamper tsl's watch out for the cords, they are deaper in the carcas on the outer edges of the tire, but quite close near the middle.

Good groove job on those swampers. The tires I bought from a race shop liquidation auction. I tried selling the set of four you see in the pic but no one was interested due to the wheel size required- 17x9/10 wheels.

How much were you asking? A friend of mine has been asking around about building a tough truck. I think that those tires would kick ass for that. Bummer on the rim size though, at least it looks like 17's are getting more popular daily.

I was asking $500 + shipping for them.

More pics of them to show the condition-

I should get a caliper on the sidewalls someday, they are beefy! Speed rating is T, 118 mph, and they're radials.

35x12.5x17 and 35x14.5x17

If he needs spares, I can include a second set of tires, same sizes, about 25% tread left on the 12.5 and 50% on the 14.5, for an extra $250 more.
