As wheelers, we are always looking for other places to go wheeling and other people to go wheeling with. There are many times through the years that I have traveled to a families house for a weekend and would have liked to have gone wheeling for a day. But, without knowing the area, or who to talk to, I have always left my rig at home. So here it goes........

Bloody Stump Wheelers
Redding / Shasta County
(530) 227-2969

We are from Redding and the surrounding area. We are not a club but we are a group of serious wheelers that got tired of the same old crap with older clubs (dirt roads and bitching). There are a handful of us that are part of the group and another handful that like to come out and watch/wheel where they can. We don't cry about body damage or broken parts. We all grew up in this area and know where to find the wheeling, summer or winter, mild to wild, and we love it all. We have trails on private and public land, and we do believe in taking out more than we take in. We also travel a lot during the summer. We do a week long trip to the Hammers every year, a few to the Con, a couple to Moon Rocks and sometimes one to Fordyce. Next we would like to explore more in Nor Cal and also southern Oregon. We are a few hours from just about all locations in Nor Cal. Many of us also do many other OHV activities along with other outdoor sports such as snowboarding, mountain biking, etc. Give us a shout if you are coming into the area, even if you don't have a rig with you, we can promise that you will still have a good time.

Here is a few of us at Moon Rocks this past Sept.

Don't belong to any clubs either, but we have a small group of people that usually go together. We do a lot of winter wheeling.
me in the bronco, hubby in the toyota, and two more toys we tag along with, sometimes our buddy in his buggy too. We like mormon emigrant trail just because it's close, and we like heading up towards wentworth springs in the snow too.

4wd Cliffhangers of Vacaville aka Vacaville Cliffhangers.

Were a small club established in 1967 currently with 20 members driving Jeeps and Toyotas.

Were usually on the trail at least once a month including half a dozen or so snow runs each year and do volunteer work for a number of different community events. A very family orientated group.

IMUZ ME
11-10-2006, 11:25 AM
The Rock Zombies were founded in 2000. Currently we have 17 members: Jereme Dick aka IMUZ ME, Rob, Cook, aka BIG ROB, Craig Baum, Brian Tilton, Jimmy Smith, Phil Liccardi aka SILLYNECK, Brenden Merwin, Travis Carpenter aka T-Carp, Jason Vanderveen, Richard Koberetcki, Keith Beale aka PAPA SMURF, Mike McMenohmy aka CHEEKS, Aaron Schindel aka KRANKER, Bryan Whitaker, Scott Rodgers, Ryan Jenson, and Frank Diano. Our memebers range in location, we are mostly located in the Orangevale CA area, however we have a members in Vacaville, Auburn, Placerville and Susanville, CA. We can be found most weekends during the summer on the Rubicon or Fordyce and ocassionally the Hamma'z. When the snow is here we go where we can.:D We meet on the frist Wednesday of everymonth. Our meetings are closed to outsiders unless you are invited or are lucky and crazy enought to become a "PROSPECT".
We range in age from early 20's to early 30's, and have had some of the most memorable trail parties on record. (that is another story unto itself)
We are always looking to make new friends, party hard and wheel harder. If you see us on the trail, be sure to introduce yourself and say hello. You will know a Rock Zombie by the Member sticker on his rig (see picture or avatar).

Many of the members wheel almost every weekend during the on season, we also like to get involved with "work weekends" on the trails and have donated moneys and prizes to "organizations" that benefit our beloved trails.

EDIT: it had been brought to my attention that is looks as though i am driving off the trail in the picture above. in fact i am not. this is a USFS designated road that has, over the last 40 years become impassable by vehicle. over the last several weeks local wheelers have been widening and reclaiming this road/trail as to get it reconized as a 4WD trail. so, although it looks as though i am trashing the land, i am not. the trail is very tight and i was the first fullwidth through the trail, happened it snowed and was very slick and i slid sidways into this tree. i was able to drive out of it without much ado.

Dysfunctional Rockcrawlers
www.thisdysfunctional.org

Most of our membership is in the Bay and Sacramento areas, with a few spread around the state and a few located out of state. We currently have 31 member/families and 5 prospective member/families.

We are active with the rubicon trail and FOTR. As a club we have lead a few cleanups/trail maintenance projects on the trail and also just completed our second annual fundraiser "Cantina for the Con" in which ALL proceeds were donated to the Rubicon Trail Foundation.

We are wheelers, friends and family. We do just about everything together from helping each other with rigs to going to each others weddings. Our age range is very diverse from the baby boomers with young kids to the old timers with kids out on their own. Our rigs are the same... from mild to wild.

See you on the trails!

The Four Dice 4 Wheel Drive Club was formed in September of 2002 shortly following the first highly publicized
attempted Rubicon closure. The 4 original members realized that if we did not get involved the sport that we love could be gone forever. Since then the club has grown by leaps & bounds. We are the official adopt-a-trail club
for the Fordyce Creek Trail and take great pride in its health.
Our club is very active in the community, inside & outside of 4 wheeling.

You'll have to wait untell the beginning of summer. Snow already hit those areas. They are fun trails and can be quick to get through, or take all day to move 1/16 of a mile, good old harcore trails. We keep them quite and only run them once or twice a year, really. I think that keeps them fun, it allows nature to do it's thing with them and there is always something different to tackle. Anyone is welcomed to call us to go on a run. Even during the winter, there is always a couple rigs ready to roll while others are being worked on. We are never all down at the same time.

Yup, there's the Wine Country Rockcrawlers (very involved- Isee their name everywhere), and the Santa Rosa 4x4's (I think that is the name of it). The Wine country guys are a short wheelbase club, and I don't know about the SR 4x's. They both have websites.

Also check out www.cal4wheel.com there are many clubs in CA listed on the site.

This is true, but there are many clubs/groups that aren't listed on that site. We aren't part of Cal 4 Wheel and don't want to be a part. Not because we don't believe in what they are doing, but because of personal problems we've had with a few upper management type. So now we choose to help without going through them. Plus, look at how many different small groups of people that are out there wheeling that aren't a club. And without bylaws, a president, sec., etc. etc. the group isn't recognized by Cal 4 Wheel. This just gives everyone in Nor Cal a chance to be heard and let us know that they are out there and that they have good wheeling spots.

Oh, and not trying to bag on you for mentioning Cal 4 Wheel, that's not what I meant and I hope you or anyone else doesn't take it that way. Cal 4 Wheel is a great organization and a great group of people. We just don't do much with them any more. What's the saying "It only takes a few......"

this seems like a cool idea, but I was looking over a bunch of the clubs, and... wondering if there are any clubs that are NOT for a bunch of pansies ?

I always pack out more then in, I am always willing to do trail clean up, sponsor good events, chip in money, etc etc etc.

These rules saying your rig must be street legal ? Must have a horn ? Must have this, and that. No "foul language" ??? Some clubs have fines for when you forget stuff...

I don't know, to me thats a little much. Any normal groups of people out there ? Down to wheel, have a good time, not worry about breakge, rolling or carnage, willing to help one another out any time, and contribute to the local trails we love and try to keep open ? I don't need "language rules" or fines, not looking for a kindergarten field trip, but rather a bunch of "good ole boys" out wheeling, challenging ourselves and our rigs, and just helping each other out.

I wheel a Suzuki Samurai, slowly turning into a buggy. Its a trailer queen, and I have no desire to turn it back into a street driven weekend warrior.

You are in Nor-Cal.

Most of the clubs listed in this thread are NOT for pansies. You can't just "join" many of them. You gotta be a prospect

The most extreme, hard-core, partying, no bullshit club in existance is in Nor-Cal. And Damned near impossible to get into..very few people could make that cut (I know I never could) Go ahead and guess what club that may be.

The Rock Zombies are fawkin bad-ass. Period. 'Nuff said.

The Jackass Wheelers are all Clamper brethern of mine. 'nuff said there too.

TDO members are some of the nicest people in the world, and they all do A LOT to keep trails open. Great people and a great club.

There are more extreme clubs up here than I could even begin to list. All full of REALLY good people. I am proud to call many of them friends....

I have NO IDEA where you got the "pansy" thing from....

Sorry, maybe shoulda been more clear. I have looked into local clubs around here (Santa Rosa area... no need for club names) and have been handed their list of rules, shit like no foul language, no alcohol, no shooting, no blah blah blah.

I was hoping for clubs more geared towards the Rock Zombies (well aware of who they are, and what they do, and even more so how HARD it is to get in).

Apparently I need to look more into it, I started looking for local clubs, found out all these different rules and other BS, and kinda gave up. I wheel with a pretty large crew, usually the same guys, just not a legit "club". But it just started looking like that's the better route to go.

And I have no problem with the idea of being a prospect, club "dues" or anything like that. If there are little guys out on the trail with us, I have no problem curbing my language and watching what I say, but i don't need fines for it. Just worried its gunna be a soft group of people with rules like that, and wont wheel or party like we do. I don't know, maybe its just another :homer: moment... either way, thanks for those club ideas, i'll check em out.

There's your answer right there, start your own.

This is how the BSW got started. Make your own rules, your own runs, and have your own fun. I mean, you can ask jrod66 what it was like trying to get in with us. We completely destroyed his first rig in one day of wheeling on a trail with us, so he had to rebuild it. Then he parted it out to build another rig. He's been hanging with us for over a year now, and we just finally let him do his initiation and is now a member. And since he is missing a leg, he'll be a good mascot.:D

I belong to 2 clubs
First one is http://www.espritdefour.com/dynamic/ . They are a formal club that does a lot for the sport and keeping trails open. Not an extreme club but a good club.

The second one is the "XJ club of Alviso" (No formal name). We get together on the second Wednesday of the month at 11:30 for lunch in Alviso.
There are no rules. No dues. No voting to get in. Don't have to own a 4x4.
We eat mexican food and talk about trucks.

Yes they do! I know a coupla people from that club. Good people, good club.

I also suggest that if you wheel in Norcal, that you join some of our local "Friends of" organizations in whatever areas you wheel in:

The Friends of the Rubicon

The Friends of High Lakes

The Friends of Greenhorn

The Friends of Tahoe Forest Access

The Friends of Fordyce

The Friends of Eldorado National Forest

I know exactly what youre talking about. I looked into the local clubs too, and their list of rules turned me off of them. Way too restrictive. Shoot me a pm next time youre goin wheelin, I need to meet more people who wheel in this area.

Bingo!

That's why I started this thread right there. And it's also a great chance to find other clubs like your own in other areas for traveling. I traveled last summer to Sonora and wheeled with the SoPo crew. It was awesome (even though my Yukon's gave up. bye bye yucan'ts).

Another option for Nor-Cal and also chapters throughout the state and into Arizona: 4x4Him.org. We're a Christian based group that's fairly active. Everyone is invited to attend runs if you don't mind hanging out with a bunch of Christians! We've got quite a bit planned this summer so check out the forum if you want more details.

I am in the Wine Country Rock Crawlers. We currently have openings for new members. Our web address is www.winecountryrockcrawlers.org . Feel free to check out our club.

Gold Hills Posse 4x4 Club

We are very active and family friendly. We are one of those "pansy" clubs. Just kidding. But we are a mature group that believes in following the rules and being responsible. We don't need to drink and cuss around the young kids to have a good time beating our rigs against the rocks. We have everything from stock Rubicons to well built Jeeps and Toyotas. We have runs that range from mild (Strawberry and Deer Valley) to more wild (Hammers). We meet in Eldorado Hills... http://www.posse4x4.com

The Four Dice 4 Wheel Drive Club was formed in September of 2002 shortly following the first highly publicized
attempted Rubicon closure. The 4 original members realized that if we did not get involved the sport that we love could be gone forever. We are an official adopt-a-trail club for the Fordyce Creek Trail and take great pride in its health. Our club is very active in the community, inside & outside of 4 wheeling.

New to the NorCal area. Santa Rosa. Not associated with a NorCal club at this time, but possibly soon. Used to be a member of the Point Mugu Four Wheel Drive Club in Ventura County down south. Currently an original member of a wheeling "social group". The 52 Rolling Gnomes!! We are all about having fun wheeling or whatever. Seeing as I have moved away from SoCal to NorCal, that would make me the NorCal Rep. for our group :smokin: Been known to dye our hair blue and run the con with the Jeepers Jamboree, or sport our party knight hats down at the hammers or where ever. Always looking for people to wheel with. I get as far up north as Rio Del, CA. Family up there. Anyhow, just wanted to say hi.

Norcal4wheelers

We are a fun, non profit, family orientated club formed in July of 2008. The main reason for forming our club was to help preserve and maintain the sanctity of our trails by organizing and assisting with trail maintanence, and proper land management.

Current members range from the Bay Area to Sacramento. Currently we have roughly 22 members in our club with ages ranging from, 25-45. We do encourage all levels of off road driving experience, but in all honesty we have a tendacy to run the harder trails in our events. Please do not let that discourage you from joining us in the future! We also have easier trail runs as well, just not as frequent. Our next run will be at Hollister November 15th (weather permitting).

We are also a proud member of the California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, Inc.

Meetings:
Meetings are held at 4wheelparts in Sacramento at 7:00. Every second Thursday of every other month

Yeah, I'm glad to be up here too. Our group is already getting set up for Jeepers Jamboree 09. Good times. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the trails up here. Also planning on attending some club meetings to get to know people. Right now I am still in the process of locating a home to buy. We'll see how that goes.
