Trooper is a 98. Yes 215HP. It did fine. Gas milage sucked in the hilly areas...10-11 MPG. The 33's on the Trooper have my gearing all wonked, so I spent a lot of time in 3rd gear at abot 3200RPMs. I pretty much just set the cruise and let it go. There were only maybe 5-6 long grades that slowed me down to about 55 at the top, other than that I went about 70-75 most of the way.

Old Town Spring is close by and kinda fun. Barnwell ORV park, Shilo Ridge, my deer lease is in the hill country is nothing but rock. It's b/t Sonora and Del Rio, I'm still finding new places to wheel. Got any good ones?

10-11mpg that is bad. I got 14mpg with a v8 towing it there and 18mpg after. I hope you can find some rocks in Texas, but it will need to come back to CA,AZ for some good wheeling.

Good luck

Mike

I'm pretty sure it was bec. it could not pull anything but the very slightest grade in 4th gear, so I spent most of the time in 3rd gear. Once past San Antonio where things flatten out a lot, the milage went way up. I did not calculate it to see exactly what it was, but I drove a lot farther w/o having to fill up.

I think I'm going to put some 5.38's in it (4.3 are stock) this will put me about 10% lower than stock with the 33's vs 10% higher than stock presently.

Hey Mike, you might want to change your sig. :D
