: More Moab Shots...
wngrog 05-06-2002, 05:30 AM Hey Guys,
Got back yesterday from Moab. Nothing substantial to report other than my "flop" on Rocker Knocker in Pritchett's Canyon.
Since I last posted, I ran Elephant Hill with my wife and 4 month old daughter...it was beautiful and the baby loved wheeling!
I also ran Poison Spider at night and Golden Spike on Friday.
Seems more and more people are takking the "High" line on the Golden Crack where you can crawl in the hole and take a picture up at your rig.
Kate did not even lift a tire on that line.....

This is a funky 4 wheel steer FJ-40 with a D60 rear and a 203 crawl box.....
This dude used square tubing and it certainly looks funky but folks it really works!
It was a pleasure to wheel with this guy for sure
wngrog 05-06-2002, 05:45 AM Mace "doing in" his traction bar......"say, shouldn't we fix that before we go?"

60seriesguy 05-06-2002, 05:51 AM Looks like you guys got gorgeous weather! What was the temperature like? Man, I've been to Moab many times and I'm still amazed at the beauty of the scenery...
ehsankiani 05-06-2002, 08:24 AM Cool Pics.. Would love to see some more pics.. specially of that 4-wheel steer FJ40..
ouibus 05-06-2002, 09:46 AM Very nice work Nolen. Glad to hear that you had a good time. Also glad to hear that you didn't have any more incidents except for the flop. That is cool that your daughter had a good time wheelin'. Maybe, I will get to wheel with you someday.
Box Rocket 05-06-2002, 10:53 AM Nolen, man, we missed you and the rest of the Texas bunch on Moab Rim on Saturday. It was a good time!
We had a small group of Wasatch Cruisers guys that went out and ran Lower Helldorado at night on Saturday. That was a total blast!!! I had never been out to Helldorado at all so it was exciting for me. We had one guy (Ryan Davis) give Upper a shot. He started at 10:30pm. Dang, the entrance to Upper can scare you off quickly! It was awesome watching Ryan is his basically stock cruiser (totally stock drivetrain, with 33's and lockers) do Upper. When he got to that 3rd obstacle that has the nasty breakover, he was pretty offcamber and low on fuel and couldn't get any gas into the bowl. No one brought extra fuel and we were all still at the mouth of Upper so we called it a night at about 2:00am (oh yeah, Ryan also doesn't have a winch) and came back out yesterday morning with gas and drove the truck the last 100 yards or so to the waterfall where I winched him out. That trail is just plain cool! I may give Upper a shot next time we go down. Ryan only used his front locker on that obstacle with the big breakover, other than that it was a stock truck with 33's and a rear locker fully "gettin' it" on one of Moab's badass trails. Definitely fun to watch!!!
BTW, nice pics too.
wngrog 05-06-2002, 11:09 AM Holy Shit! Upper Helldorado at night in a stock Cruiser? What a maniac!
Glad you guys had fun, it was time to go on Saturday, sorry I did not hang around for Moab Rim.
Go to the link in my signature for more photos of Moab listed by trail.
Enjoy...
Box Rocket 05-06-2002, 11:42 AM Yeah, it was pretty crazy. There was a spot or two where we had a couple straps on his cage with 2 or 3 people holding them just to keep him upright!
I still can't believe Ryan did that in a nearly stock truck! I think he's looney.:D
I'll throw up some pictures when I get them. My camera died so I'm waiting on some from another guy, but I'll throw them up here in this thread just for comparison.

I got some great video of Jim crawling up Hell's Gate. It freaked me out everytime I saw those rear wheels sliding out. He moves like a sidewinder!!

Ehsan,
I have 7 hrs of Digital 8 that I haven't looked at yet. I had some minor surgery yesterday and will be out of commission for a few days. My plan is to get as much of the video on to CD as possible (while getting work done on my 40), but I'm waiting for a cable I need from Sony. I haven't put .avi or .mpeg onto the net before, so I'll have to find some time to mess with it!
