What states allow 4x4/OHV use of Utility Lines/easments.
I am referencing.
Maine does not, except for recognized ATV clubs, (via state intermediarys,-atv club asks state, state asks power co, Power CO says ok, state relays Ok to ATV club) and snowmobile clubs (the same way)
Thanks.

I'm interested in this too. Do the land owners have any say over the lines that run through there property? But be carefull when its triming time along high lines! I was on my 4 wheeler in a field and this helicopter flys over with a huge 14 nlade circular saw hanging from it. trimming the trees, when he landed to refuel I caught up to him and took some pics and talked to him, they trim in an hour what it would take ground crews a week to do. The thing had fourteen 18" circular blades in a row, total about 30 ft long hanging straight down from helicoptor. Powered by a v twin briggs and straton.
Id hate to have one of those run into my 4 wheeler or even worse my deer stand! Anyone else seen one of these?

I've been told it's illegal to use a motorized vehicle because of possible soil erosion issues.

Power line right-of-ways are governed by easements.
Basically, it depends on whether the easement was issues by state or federal agency.
The short answer is soil erosion issues on power line roads is a BS arugement.
Based on area of the country, there are few problems with snowmobile use of powerline routes.
During summer (or no snow conditions), access to ATV or 4x4 use is dependant on several issues. As noted in a couple of states, their 4x4 opportunities are on powerline routes.
Motorized access becomes an issue when power line security becomes an issue.
