Well guys I purchased a new soft top about 4 months ago for my 99' TJ and its been working beautifully... untill this week. Up here in the Seattle area we had a good hard rain for a couple of days and when me and my girlfriend took the Jeep out we got dripped upon the soft top everywhere we felt was soaked on the inside of the fabric?!?!? I hope this is not normal, has anyone else had this problem? If so what can I do to fix the problem. Thanks for the help,
Brannon

Only you can tell how wet you want your girldfriend :flipoff2:

In all seriousness, its not normal, even old tops dont soak in water, what company did you buy from? My stock top and best top never had this problem, and I havent heard of any other tops getting that saturated, I'd call us who you bought it from and ask for a replacement...

I've never heard of something like that....just the occasional collapse from too much snow on top:D

Didn't you get like 30 inches of rain in 5 days up there??? I would be more worried about water coming in from underneath:D

But, no that's not normal. Is it a denim top??? Are they supposed to be treated in some way???

sounds like it defective, like part of the waterproofing or sealing wasnt done correctly when it was manufactured?

Was it soaking through or was is condensation on the inside?

I mean after you and the GF steamed up all the windows...too wet? Less foreplay:D

Last time I went on a snow run my soft top was sinking down cause of all the snow piled up. When I woke up the next morning there was quite a bit of snow on that thing and it did not look good. I parked under a tree and everthing, so what's the way around this? Don't want a hard top and don't want to break the soft.

Only time this has ever happened to me is when I had the sides off and moisture made home to the inside of my top. Perhaps this is the same thing?

clean and dry it up, and spray Scotch Gard heavy duty water repellent (can buy it at Home Depot or OSH, Wal MArt), etc.

I had to apply every once ina while on my wife's Eclipse Spider, and worked freaking awesome!!

Ahem, I live north of you, Vancouver :)

Had that Happen once before during our last heavy rain spout, It literally felt like the rain was soaking through, not a lto though.

As was mentioned before, get some type of sylicone shoe spray and when the soft top is dry, spray that on it. Worked for me. I do this every time our mutual 'rainy season' starts.

all i know is i would be pissed if i had to spray water repellent on a new soft top to keep the water out,, them things arent cheap and shouldnt leak..

Was it physically leaking though?, It could also be condesation, because of the large amount water in the air. Like fog but only it rained for 3 days.

i would definatley call who you bought the top from, it shouldnt be leaking at all. also, rain or snow, 4wd hardware/quadratec, sell a "prop top" for the soft top roof, it arches the roof, so water rolls off instead of pooling up, also could add strength for holding snow until you brush it off.

my YJ top always leaked if you were to touch it... after you touched it, it would continously drip in that spot,,,, it was a besttop.... figure from the oils on your hands... have no idea why.
