Watershed restoration work to control erosion in the Millionaire Camp and Bassi Falls areas will begin next week on public land. The private landowner is currently doing restoration work. Bassi Falls will continue to be accessible by a 10 minute walk from a parking area nearby. There will be no motorized access.


After a trip up there on sunday this was confirmed to be true. What happend to closing it during the fall.

I just got off the phone with the Forest Service. The Falls and some of the camping areas are on Nat'l Forest. The road crosses private land.

The trail will NOT be reopened. Colsure is permanent unless the forest service can do a land swap with the owner of the land. This has been looked into by the forest service.

I think a letter writing campaign is in order. I will investigate further and post what I find.

I have to say. It is a frawk mess up there. crap everywere. and more shotgun shells on the ground than pine cones! That act of few can effect so many! oh Can you tell I am pissed! :flipoff: :mad3:

I was there for the first time 4/20 weekend. damb great place. I wanted to bring my kids up there This Summer.
Unless they can do a swap for land. I guess we are gona hike to the falls!

All I can think is more ammo for the GAG's out there.

After a trip up to bassi on 5-5-02 i was very upset. My wife and i wanted to take our son up to the falls, for a nice lunch and to relax... Well that could'nt happen due to the closure of the trail.
There was no way to get to the falls other than hike,which would be fine if we wanted to hike. We as a family love to go wheeling, and i can think of no other better way to teach my son about the forest and how to take care of it. You may think of this reply as whiny or bitching...not true,it is the only way i can express my anger and sadness about the closures. I am sure you all feel the same way as we do. We need to find a way to keep this from happening,if not we will only be allowed to go to places like Prarie City(OHV), And you all know, that gets BORING!!!
