hey, first time in this forum, and i had a problem so i thought i'd try here.
my 86 xr200r is giving me some problems...i dont know if they are normal for the bike, so just let me know.
whenever i do a wheelie for more than 25 feet, it bogs down real bad--is this normal?
if it isnt, how can i fix it?
TIA

Could the float level be set wrong? Maybe the needle isn't seating properly?
That's all I can think of.

Cut your wheelies short at about 24ft for now on and you'll be ok!

this problem really pisses me off cause my friend (who has a kawasaki) is always sayin what a pile my bike is whenever it bogs after a wheelie:rolleyes:
fawk him--we went to a track and i kicked his ass two times over (2-stroke 125 vs. 4-stroke 200)
now i just gotta kick his @ss in wheelies!!!!:smokin:

just re-build the carb and that should fix your problems. I know what u mean about 4 strokes killin 2 strokes my friends xr600 kills my other friends cr250 hands down, u gotta luv those big bore 4 strokes. I pin it and hold on for dear life when i ride the beast.:)

Hahaha... I was lay'n the SMACK DOWN to my bro in law and his "super fast" YZ250. He has the welts on his neck to prove it. :flipoff2: Course we were at Carnegie where long, straight up hillclimbs reign suprememe. The Husky 610 made short work of every one I shot up. :D Too damn fun.
And yes, as stated before, rebuild the carb. What year is it? Should be a Mikuni, easy to rebuild. Make sure you boil out the body and anything with a hole in it. You just got some varnish somewhere impeding flow. Good luck. And keep spank'n that smoker!

Took it apart last night but didnt clean it cause.........
First off: i think it is flooding itself, heres why:
the front (unhinged part) of the float is towards the front, which means it wants to stay level when i do a wheelie; as it levels out (ie drops down) it lowers the needle and lets a crapload of gas in(most likely). so i figger the overflow vent should take care of it...so i clean out the overflow vent with compressed air and figger that will fix it....wrong!
what im gonna do (when i get my grades up and am allowed back in the garage:flipoff2:) is take the fawker apart, soak the mother in acetone, and widen the hole on the overflow vent (its tapered at the top). Sound like a plan?
btw, when i took it apart, the needle dohickey on the slide came out! But not to worry, i fixed it...scared the crap outta me when i lost that snap ring--it was on top the slide the hole time!:rasta:
lemme know what ya think.....

big bore four strokers are fun. I've got a 95 klx-650r that I recently put a 12 tooth sprocket on the front and 51 tooth on the back. (in place of 14 up front and 49 on the back) It will pull third gear wheelies at half throttle, even weighing close to 300 pounds   It is just scary fast!
hope you get the carb issue figured out. I have a 85 atc200x that is running rich as well, probably the exact same motor. I have leaned out the clip as far as it will go but it still blows out black soot and fouls plugs left and right. I don't want to buy a 40 dollar rebuild kit but looks like I'll have to.
