that one in camino just scares me. sushi in camino, something just doesn't sound rite. not the closest but taka's at madison and fair oaks is the best i have found yet. we went to wasabi sushi on green back and it was really good too (and the licenceplates in the parking lot cracked me up like EATITRAW). i am curious to hear if there is something good this direction.

Ichi Maki in Rancho Cordova (off 50/ Hazel on Folsom blvd) is good. The menu is not as big as Mikunis but not as expensive either. I usually do not have to wait either.

Been rollin down the hill to Mikuni's. Also been at the Sky which I thought was dirty but the food was OK.
I refuse to go to Camino. They may as well put the Ox next to Paul Bunnion and raise chickens.
And the Palm reading place just next door really sets it off for me.
Hair care, tire store, taro card and sushi really sounds swell.

Aji Ichi in San Bruno, good friends of mine and the best sushi in my opinion.

Mikuni in Fair Oaks is still my favorite, and where I go. I don't go anywhere else around here anymore. I really miss Koala's in P'ville tho. :(

i guess i am the only one that thinks mikuni's is way over rated. i still like their sushi but definitly don't think it is the best.

i find that if you get to know the chef at some of the smaller sushi places it can really get better. there is a small place in folsom called kirala near intel that has pretty good sushi. i was going there up to 3 times a week (when i made a LOT more money than i do now:p ) and got to know the people in there pretty well. if they saw me pull up in the parking lot they knew where i would sit at the sushi bar and have a beer waiting there for me. i never had to order any thing the chef would just keep making me specials. i have not been in there in over a year but i bet if i went there today i would still hear "oh, robert, how you been?" in a japanese accent.:D

I second that!! In my opinion they are better than Mikuni's. $9.95 lunch special is 2 complete rolls and I stuff myself trying to finish them.

Nevada City - can't remember the name but it's a little tiny place one street south of the main drag (south side of Police Station). It was damn good and I'll go back next time I'm any where near by.

I'll second Kyoto in Cameron Park. Been eating there since the week they opened one small bar, one chef, Brian, great food.

Taiko in Folsom on Bidwell across from Home Depot is good too, if you're down in the pit!

Shilla's in Camino sucks and smells like fish, a bad sign in a sushi bar.

WASABI on Greenback west of Fair Oaks blvd.. is the best in town. Fresh fish, friendly staff and plenty of  . The spicy sea food salad with fresh cut jalapenos will put the schizzel on your nizzel.

I like Mikuni's or Ichi Maki (my friend works here, which makes me go there more to see her) if I have some money. Otherwise I like Fuji's in Davis for cheap stuff ($12.90 with tax). They got a good selection for what they are, which is what I enjoy about them for the cost. I hear people talk crap about them, but I have yet to have anything taste bad or be spoiled.

What ever makes you happy. Keep in mind that getting a deal on sushi is like getting a deal on a tattoo. Good luck. remember you get what you pay for.
