Opinions Please,
I am about to buy a complete hub to hub replacement for my front axle, and I would like some input.
The photos are of my current front housing and tire wear pattern. Is this wear not due to a bent front housing/yoke? I am going to buy the axle regardless, but I just wanted to be sure. I have driven this thing for a long time this way and I have always assumed that the bend was due to a :beer:8 footer:beer: that I jumped a long time ago.
The discs and other parts are going to be put on the rear of this Scout and I am going to be using a hydraulic line lock as well as an adjustable proportioning valve. Have any of you that have installed this combination had any real problems?

Hope to be resurecting this thing real soon!

Well, I guess it could be a bent housing but there is an adjustment that can be made to the camber too. It's a special washer that is under the ball joint nut.

As for the line lock/ adj prop valve...I have that set up and it work fine...but the line lock will bleed down after a while...

On the front '44 in "Tigger" I have camber shims under the spindle - between the spindle and knuckle.

They were there when I got it.. dunno if the housing is bent, or was just a bit off from the factory, or what.. but it's worked fine, and tie-wear is fine as long as I remember to put the stupid shims back in the right way.. put 'em on upside down once.. oops..

I think that this should do it!

Sometimes you feel so :rasta:

Take it to an alignment shop and have them check it out. You said you had "castor correctors" put on a while ago.... I suspect they f-ed up when they put them in and screwed that side....

The alignment shop should be able to tell you if its a bent housing or not as well. You can also have it straitend. Not sure what it costs, or how they do it (if they can do it on the truck), might save you a tear down and swap.

Seems to me a bent housing would wear both sides.... but I've never delt with one (that I know of).

Camber shims may be all you need?!?

I think, when Mike Jongeling fixed his bent front end, he put it on the alignment rack, used a come-along (?) to cinch the housing back into spec, plus a little more.. then welded his truss on, and when he released the tension it "snapped" back to give or take "true"..

I'm sure there are other ways of straightening one..
