JBconversions and Novak are teaming up to offer a 4 to 1 kit for the dana 300 that is made out of almost twice as hard of gears as the tera kit. It will also be machined to a polish so that gear noise and metal shavings are kept to an absolute minimum. Aparently the tera gears are made out of steel in the 5000 range and the new ones will be made out of 8620 carbonized steel. These gears should be out in the next month or so. Just thought everyone would like to know seeing as all the stories I have heard of the tera gears blowing up recently.:smokin:

Any word on a scout d-300 kit?

he told me that they were looking at being about 50 dollars more expensive retail than the tera kit. As far as the scout one is concerned I know that there is a difference between the 6 spline and the 23 spline but I dont know if they are going to make the kit available for that also. YOu can call Eric at novak and he will be able to awnser that question. Also they found that the tool for making the front 32 spline output is the same as the tool for the rear 32 spline output so that means that the kit will be signifigantly reduced in price and seeing as they were saying around 160-170 that may mean that you can pick up the HD front output for around 100 buck which would make it really worth it.

jeeper111 --- do you happen to know if they have went to the extra expense of crowning the gears? cause if they haven't they will always have the whine and not as strong as they could be. FYI

Damn, that's good news. I've wanted lower gears for my D300,
but I refuse to get the "Tera" ones cause too many ppl I know had
them grenade. I'll be waiting for the release.

yes I believe that the gears are crowned. The guys there told me that the reason for the extra expense is because of better steel and alot more time machining them. They told me that the tera gears that they had seen looked like the teeth had been hand filed but that their gears will polished by a machine before leaving. you could call Eric at Novak and ask though.

Interesting. I've heard all sorts of bad things about the Tera gears but I've been running them for a year with no problems at all.

Something to keep in mind if I ever blow them up. Or course I'm only running 33's with one locker behind a 4.0, so I don't think I have too much to worry about

Well I wasnt aware that I suck monkey nuts. And as much fun as it sounds actually seeing Jeeper111 doing it wasnt that appealing. But stronger gears sound cool!

jeeper 111. you are a novak pimp. here is how it works. if you want your products advertised on this board then you need to send us a set of gears at no charge and we will install them in a rig we deem worthy. after thoroughly hammering them in real world wheeling if they are worthy we will let the world know how great your product is. until then if you pimp any more of your companys products here you will be banned.

I am not a novak pimp. I dont work for them and have only talked with them on the phone about 4 or 5 times in regard to this kit and the adapter that I already purchased from them. I am a college student and I dont even work right now and when I do it isnt in a machine shop, I can tell you that much. I tell people about that shit so that I can get lower prices when the orders go up. Also I think it is a good product or I wouldn't say anything about it. Besides I havn't said anything other than they are available and gave the specs on them. I never said they were the next best thing or that they would never break or anything like that. When I get them I will go and beat the shit out of them and let you guys know. I dont see anybody else on this board pushing manufacturers to step out on a limb and build new products that could be of good use. You are all so ofended that I am talking about it and I am not bowing down with the rest of you to the Atlas II. If you dont want to get them then DON'T. I am not trying to force anyone to get them, just letting you know they are available so that maybe they will decide to make them a permanent kit after they do the test run. It just means more options for wheelers with this t-case and I wouldn't think that you would be against that. If you want to ban me go ahead, Ill live, you can just give me that 20 bucks I spent tonight to become a member back and I will go use it on my jeep instead of talking on this forum full of assholes who just want to argue about atlases all damn day. I thought this was a tech board, sounds more like a bunch of old women in a sewing circle bitching at each other. Maybe everyone should quit bitching and actually go wheeling. You dont see people like Lance bitching on here. As a matter of fact the only time I have seen him bitching was to throw up a post called "Quit your Bitch'n". I think that everyone needs to follow that example and as soon as I possibly can get my truck running I am heading off to moab for a week to do just that. I am done argueing about it and I am not going to respond to it anymore. PERIOD.:mad3:

Sounds ligit to me:) I"m interested in these new developments as I have a dana 300 in my jeep and I don't plan on buying an Atlas in the near future. I don't think Jeeper was pimpin:D just lettin others know about these new products. If I hadn't of herd it hear, I still wouldn't know about it. So Jeeper you can "pimp" at me all day long:grinpimp:

thanks for the laugh. Lance was sitting right next to me when he told me to keep an eye on jeeper 111 because he is a novak pimp.

if you do not work at novak, then ok. if you do then quit pimping there shit. maybe it is just a coincidence but last week Novak contacted us about advertising and now this week you start pimping there wares. strange.

I can vouch for Jeeper111 he goes to school with me. And if you think that making a company produce a product that is better than all the rest is pimping then fine. Pimpin aint easy.

More options will ALWAYS be better!

Well, yeah. :D But clearly, that's part of the fun here. If you don't like it, there are other sewing circles to join... :flipoff2:
