Can't tell you much about a 60 but I shaved my Toyota axel as did one of the guys I wheel with. We used 1/4" plate, made one bend in the center piece, and cut sections to fill the rest. Best advice is go real slow, I never made a weld more than about 1.5" long and let it cool to the touch before I did another weld (to reduce warping). I also mounted a junk third to prevent warp (you could do the same with a diff cover I recon). Finally, put in a spacer of at elast 3/16" between the pinion and your plate when you weld it all up. Hope this helps a bit.

Check on my sig, or search for shaving a 14 bolt under my name, about the same process.

Good luck!

I'm not sure how much to cut it on a 60, just go slow and take your time when doing it. use a thick ass plate for the bottom (1/2" works well) and go slow when welding. when i shaved my 14 bolt i welded one side to fast and it warped the whole damn plate so the other side had about a quarter inch before it touched the housing again, so i had to start over:laughing:
